Abstract: In the tube manufacturing industry, five general methodologies for manufacturing tubes are known at this time. The first is under an extrusion of molten metal by means of a press. The second is by means of a rotary lamination system known as “Piercing” or “Mannesmann”. The third is the welded pre-tube that is obtained from a laminated strip. The fourth, known as the “Cast & Roll” system, whereby a pre-tube, obtained directly from the melting, is laminated by a triple roller system. Finally, the innovative manner whereby a continuous vertical casting manufactures pre-tubes continuously, directly from the melt. The four first systems are widely used in the industry to manufacture what is known as a “pre-tube” that usually has a diameter of 60 mm or higher, which we shall name “old pre-tube”. Different processes are applied to that old pre-tube to bring it to smaller diameters and thicknesses finally required by the market.

Abstract: A method for creating a tapered spiral welded conical structure where the overall shape of the cone is first graphically slit axially and unwrapped, and then a series of construction arcs and lines are created to form the edge lines of a strip that can then be wrapped (rolled) to form a tapered conical structure. The edges of the spirally wound strip can be welded together, and a very large conical structure can thus be achieved. Various construction options are presented from a constant width strip to strip made from straight segments. Equations are given for the formation of the strips to enable those skilled in the art of spiral welded tubing to practice the invention.

The blackened layers are formed on the shiny and matte sides respectively. The blackened layers are formed alloy by electroplating in a plating bath consisting essentially of copper, cobalt, nickel, manganese, magnesium and sodium ions. A rough layer is selectively formed between the blackened layer and the shiny side as well as the matte side. Both side of the copper foil is spotless, powder free, and good in etching quality. The copper foil is effective at blocking electromagnetic wave, near infrared, undesired light and the like. The copper foil exhibits strong light absorption and is applicable to direct gas laser drilling. A method of manufacturing the composite dual blackened copper foil is also provided.
