Abstract: The invention refers to a method for manufacturing a hybrid component including the following steps of manufacturing a preform as a first part of the hybrid component, then successively building up on that preform a second part of the component from a metallic powder material by means of an additive manufacturing process by scanning with an energy beam, thereby establishing a controlled grain orientation in primary and in secondary direction of at least a part of the second part of the component. The controlled secondary grain orientation is realized by applying a specific scanning pattern of the energy beam, which is aligned to the cross section profile of the component or to the local load conditions for the component.

Abstract: A battery unit is provided which includes a battery and a storage case in which the battery is mounted. The storage case is made up of a base, a cover, and an intermediate case. The cover is jointed to the base with an interspace therebetween. The intermediate case is disposed between the cover and the base and has a peripheral wall which occupies the interspace. The intermediate case is lower in stiffness than the cover and the base, thereby realizing a lightweight structure of the storage case without sacrificing the mechanical strength thereof.

Abstract: A prismatic nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a convex portion on a stepped portion of a stepped through hole of a positive electrode external conduction member. An upper end side of a caulked portion of a positive electrode terminal member is caulked by being inserted from a side of a small-diameter portion into the stepped through hole of a positive electrode external conduction member, and a convex portion of the positive electrode external conduction member is covered with a tip side of the caulked portion. Therefore, a terminal member and an external conduction member have a great bond strength, and rarely rotate with respect to each other. Thus, there is less concern that a conductivity decreases even when the battery is used under an environment including a lot of vibrations.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an integrated electrode assembly including a cathode, an anode, and a separation layer disposed between the cathode and the anode. The cathode, the anode, and the separation layer are integrated with each other. The separation layer includes 3 phases including a liquid-phase component containing an ionic salt, a solid-phase component supporting the separation layer between the cathode and the anode, and a polymer matrix in which linear polymers and cross-linked polymers form a viscoelastic structure with the liquid-phase component and the solid-phase component being incorporated in the polymer matrix. The polymer matrix is coupled to each of the cathode and the anode. The liquid-phase component of the separation layer flows into the electrodes (i.e., the cathode and anode) during preparation of the integrated electrode assembly to greatly improve wetting properties of the electrodes and to increase ionic conductivity of the electrodes.
