  • Publication number: 20150000311
Abstract: A refrigerator includes a fast ice making device for quickly producing ice cubes. The fast ice making device includes a mold body having a plurality of ice forming cavities adapted to hold fluid. In an ice making cycle, a vacuum system evacuates air from the cavities, thereby depressurizing the cavities. Then, a liquid delivery system delivers liquid to the depressurized cavities, whereby an initial portion of the liquid bubbles up within the respective cavities. Overall, a cooler fluid is established at the beginning of an ice making cycle, thus accelerating the rate at which ice cubes are formed within the fast ice making device. Once ice cubes have been formed within the cavities, a heat transfer system is utilized to heat the cavities, thereby slightly melting the ice cubes and aiding in the expulsion of ice cubes from the cavities.

Abstract: High efficiency heat pump combining absorption and solution concentration change. The method gives a few times higher efficiency for heat transfer applications like heating—air conditioning. It is a heat and mechanical compression method using liquid electrolyte solutions, combining steam absorption, solution concentration change and mechanical compression. There is no heat consumption. Steam condensation is performed by a high concentration solution and vaporization from a low concentration solution reducing in this way the required mechanical compression of the known refrigeration cycle. The method may be used for work production too, exploiting moderate temperature heat sources.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and to a device for producing vacuum tubes for solar thermal installations, wherein the vacuum tube comprises an outer tube and an inner tube arranged within the outer tube, and the gap between the outer tube and the inner tube is sealed with respect to the exterior and evacuated. An outer tube (4) is coated in a first vacuum unit (1) and an inner tube (5) is coated in a second vacuum unit (2). The coated outer tube (4) and the coated inner tube (5) are assembled in a third vacuum unit (3) and fused together at the ends. The third vacuum unit is connected to the first vacuum unit (1) and to the second vacuum unit (2), such that the outer tube (4) and the inner tube (5) are not exposed to the atmosphere throughout the entire production of the vacuum tubes.

Abstract: Apparatus includes a first and second conduits configured to form an annulus between them. An adjustable structure includes a body having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a circumferential surface abutting a portion of the internal surface of the second conduit. The structure is adjustable axially in relation to and removably attached to the first conduit via a hub. The hub defines a central passage for fuel or oxidant. The body has one or more non-central through passages configured such that flow of an oxidant or fuel therethrough causes the fuel or oxidant to intersect flow of fuel or oxidant exiting from the central passage in a region above the upper surface of the body.
