  • Patent number: 8929258
Abstract: Service levels for call-processing are enhanced based on the subscriber status of at least one of the calling party and the called party. In one example, a calling party (caller) places a call to a called party (recipient). At least one of the parties subscribes to a call-processing service and the call normally would be processed according to a predetermined service level. However, the service level is enhanced in response to a subscriber status for at least one of the parties, and the call is processed according to the enhanced service level.

  • Patent number: 8929263
Abstract: In an example embodiment, a control connection is introduced between an adaptive jitter buffer (AJB) and an adaptive bulk delay (ABD) buffer of an echo canceller (ECAN) in an Internet Protocol (IP) conference bridge. The control connection allows the AJB to control the amount of delay inserted by the ABD in the ECAN convolution processor (CP) signal path. The adjustment in ABD delay restores the time alignment of the ECAN internal echo estimate and offsets variations in echo tail delay introduced by network induced AJB delay changes. Time-invariance is preserved in the echo tail path.

  • Patent number: 8929281
Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to the sharing of wide area network (WAN) uplink bandwidth with peer to peer communication signaling usage are described. Typically, a base station uses its WAN uplink band to receive uplink signals from wireless terminals using the base station as a point of network attachment. In accordance with a feature, a base station injects a signal, e.g., a beacon signal, into its WAN uplink bandwidth, e.g., its WAN frequency division duplex (FDD) uplink band. A peer to peer wireless terminal scans the uplink bandwidth, detects the base station signal, evaluates the received base station signal, and controls peer to peer transmission as a function of the evaluation. Control of peer to peer transmission includes adjusting peer to peer transmission power as a function of the evaluated base station signal. The communications band used for peer to peer communications is, in some embodiments, the same uplink band.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing procedures (protocols) of a PDCP (Packet Data Convergence Protocol) layer and an RLC (radio layer in an E-UMTS (Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) which has evolved from UMTS, among radio protocols of a mobile communication system. The PDCP layer performs ciphering on data (i.e., PDCP SDU) received from an upper layer, generates an indicator discriminating ciphered data and non-ciphered data (i.e., an ROHC feedback packet directly generated by the PDCP layer), and transmits the same to a lower layer (i.e., MAC layer). A PDCP SN (Sequence Number) is defined as an algorithm for ciphering the data in the PDCP layer to perform ciphering in the PDCP layer.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for simultaneously receiving on two carriers and performing discontinuous transmission (DTX) and discontinuous reception (DRX) in dual cell high speed downlink packet access (DC-HSDPA) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receives a message for activating DRX for at least one of an anchor carrier and a supplementary carrier and applies the same DRX pattern to the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier upon reception of the message. The message may be received via a high speed shared control channel (HS-SCCH) order. The WTRU may activate or de-activate the supplementary carrier based on the physical layer signal. Upon activation of the supplementary carrier, the WTRU may apply the same DRX pattern on both the anchor carrier and the supplementary carrier. The WTRU may flush a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) buffer associated with the supplementary carrier upon de-activation of the supplementary carrier.

The radio communication device includes: a CCE allocation unit (104); modulation units (103-1 to 103-K); an arrangement unit (108); and a radio transmission unit (111). The CCE allocation unit (104) allocates allocation information allocated to a PDCCH which is inputted from the modulation unit (103-1 to 103-K) as follows. Among a plurality of search spaces shared by a greater number of UE groups as the CCE aggregation size of the PDCCH increases, a particular search space corresponding to the CCE aggregation size of the PDCCH and a mobile group (UE group) of the PDCCH is selected as a space to which the allocation information is to be allocated. The arrangement unit (108) arranges the allocation information in a downlink resource corresponding to the CCE of the particular search space allocated among the downlink resources secured for the PDCCH.
