Abstract: A positioning node (110), a user equipment (120), a radio network node (130) and methods therein for providing complementary assistance data to be used by a user equipment (120) during a positioning session for determining a position of the user equipment (120) and for enabling continuation of the positioning session are provided. A change from a first cell to a second cell occurs during the positioning session. The user equipment (120) receives control information from the first cell before the change and from the second cell after the change. The positioning node obtains information identifying the second cell. Next, the positioning node generates the complementary assistance data relating to the second cell in advance of the change. The complementary assistance data comprises assistance data adapted to the second cell when the second cell is configured to provide control information to the user equipment (120).

  • Patent number: 8995394
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling fast dormancy on LTE wireless connections. In an example embodiment, a user device generates a signal strength measurement report upon receiving an indication that a data transfer via an active wireless connection with a first infrastructure node according to a first wireless communication standard, such as LTE, is complete. The user device submits the signal strength measurement report to the first infrastructure node to trigger a handover. The user device implements the handover to a second infrastructure node to yield a second wireless connection according to a second wireless communication standard, such as WCDMA. Upon completion of the handover to the second infrastructure node, the user device transmits to the second infrastructure node a request to release the second wireless connection.

  • Patent number: 8995397
Abstract: Embodiments describe mobility management utilizing neighbor discovery and at least two pseudo wires. When a wireless device desires to handoff to a detected access router, such handoff may not be configured until such time as a current access router receives routing information of the target access router. In order to minimize handoff time, communication between the target access router and the wireless device can be through the current access router utilizing least two pseudo wires. Bidirectional neighbor discovery and create is conducted by the access routers allow subsequent wireless devices to automatically handoff between the access routers.

Abstract: Systems and methods for assigning unique network identifiers in a packet-switched wired network and methods for communicating with a network device in a packet-switched wired network are provided. A request for a unique network identifier for a network device is received. A socket-based unique network identifier, including an IP address and one or more ports, is assigned to the network device. The unique network identifier is created by combining an IP address and one or more ports. This allows multiple unique network identifiers to be created from a single IP address, where each unique network identifier consists of the same IP address combined with a different group of one or more ports.

Abstract: A media over packet networking appliance provides a network interface, a voice transducer, and at least one integrated circuit assembly coupling the voice transducer to the network interface. The at least one integrated circuit assembly provides media over packet transmissions and holds bits defining reconstruction of a packet stream having a primary stage and a secondary stage. The secondary stage has one or more of linear predictive coding parameters, long term prediction lags, parity check, and adaptive and fixed codebook gains. The packet stream has an instance of single packet loss, and the reconstruction includes receiving a packet sequence represented by P(n)P(n?1)?, [Lost Packet], P(n+2)P(n+1)?, and P(n+3)P(n+2)?, obtaining as information from the secondary stage one or more of the linear predictive coding parameters, long term prediction lags, parity check, and adaptive and fixed codebook gains, and performing an excitation reconstruction utilizing said packet sequence thus received.

Abstract: Apparatus includes a communication predelivery receiver, configured to communicate with and relay both IP addressed overhead and IP addressed payload data from an originating communication device. The communication predelivery receiver includes a screener configured to, when the communication predelivery receiver is in communication with the originating communication device, receive certain data including first IP addressed data and second IP addressed data of corresponding first and second initiated communications. The communication predelivery receiver is configured and connected within a network so the first IP addressed data and the second IP addressed data are processed differently. For the first initiated communication, the first payload data is converted, after the point in time at which the screener received the first IP addressed data, from IP addressed first payload data to another network signal.

Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a computer system. The computer system includes a display mechanism, a storage, and a migration management mechanism. The storage stores a data structure indicating one or more port profiles. The migration management mechanism identifies one or more port profiles associated with a target switch for a migrating virtual machine, wherein the target switch is coupled to a target host machine of the virtual machine and recommends whether the target switch is suitable for the virtual machine by examining an identifier to the virtual machine in the port profiles associated with the target switch using the display mechanism.

Abstract: A method and apparatus generate a group service flow in a mobile communication system. An Advanced Mobile Station (AMS) in a mobile communication system transmits an AAI_REG-REQ message, which includes a group service request indicator indicating that it is required to generate the group service flow, to an ABS. The AMS receives an AAI_REG-RSP message and an AAI_DSA-REQ message, which includes at least one of a group service flow parameter for the group service flow, a multicasting Station Identifier (STID), a multicasting flow ID, a group service flow ID, and information indicating a use of the group service flow, from the ABS. The AMS then generates the group service flow in cooperation with the ABS in accordance with the AAI_DSA-REQ message.

Abstract: Segmented frames of data may be transmitted from a transmitting device using conflict free slots (CFS) within a carrier sense multiple access with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol on a noisy media. At a receiver, a segmented frame of data is received. The data is represented by a plurality of tones. If requested by the transmitter, a tone map response command is prepared that specifies a set of optimized tone map parameters by analyzing the received frame of data. Any previously determined tone map response commands to the transmitting device are deleted. A sequence of frame segments may be received in conflict free slots, but only one tone map response is transmitted to the transmitting device after receiving the entire sequence of frame segments.

Abstract: A method for optimizing data transfer in a wireless communication network is presented. A routing protocol is run for enabling data transmission devices (101-06) to form the wireless communication network. If routing information indicates that a route from a first data transmission device (101) to a second data transmission device (104) goes via at least one third data transmission (102, 103) device, it is checked whether a direct radio link (110) from the first data transmission device to the second data transmission device could be possible. If the direct radio link is possible, a message receivable by the at least one third data transmission device is sent. The message informs the third data transmission device that data transfer from the first data transmission device to the second data transmission device is direct radio communication and no forwarding actions are needed from the third data transmission device.

Abstract: A local router stores a content distribution map that specifies a plurality of permitted multicast groups. The local router receives communications from user devices on an access-network side of the local router. Those received communications identify multicast groups for which user devices wish to receive data. The local router ascertains if those identified multicast groups are permitted multicast groups specified by the stored content distribution map. For multicast groups ascertained to be permitted multicast groups, the local router sends communications across a network-side interface requesting membership in those multicast groups. The local router may then receive data for those multicast groups and forward that data to user devices. For multicast groups identified in user device communications ascertained not to be permitted multicast groups, the local router sends no communications across the network-side interface requesting membership.
