Abstract: A central vacuum cleaning system includes a locking collar mounted at various locations in a structure or RV and connected to the inlet end of a vacuum conduit. A section of hose is slidably mounted within the conduit and extends therefrom for cleaning an adjacent area. A pair of O-rings within the collar frictionally retains a handle mounted on the end of the hose in a stored position when the hose is in a retracted position and provides an air seal between the handle and vacuum supply conduit. A locking mechanism mounted on the collar automatically locks the hose in a selected extended position when manually pulled from the collar by a locking finger engaging an adjacent section of the hose. An electric switch on the collar enables a user to actuate the vacuum supply source. A mounting bracket enables the collar to be mounted at various locations in the structure and a ring formed on the collar enables the collar to be rotated to a desired position on the mounting bracket.

Abstract: The present invention provides devices and methods for detecting and tracking fast-moving-object. In one application, the present invention can be employed to detect and track fast eye movements (saccades). An example device of the present invention tracks a moving object by generating, within a single frame of a detector (e.g., a video camera) two or more images of the moving object. The images are generated by illuminating the moving objects with sequentially activated light sources (e.g. sequentially tally strobed light-emitting diodes). The rate at which the light sources are sequentially activated exceeds the frame rate of the detector, resulting in generating multiple images of the moving object within a single frame of the detector. The devices and methods described herein, including a saccadometry system, can utilize off-the-shelf components and does not require expensive high-frame-rate video equipment.

Abstract: The present application describes techniques to image biological tissue to determine biological information of an imaged tissue sample such as changes in hemoglobin concentrations, blood flow rate (pulse), and/or spatio-temporal features. Embodiments include illuminating the tissue sample with light in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum, which is minimally absorbed but scattered through the tissue sample. By detecting the NIR light that is attenuated through, transmitted through, and/or reflected off the tissue to be imaged, the resulting NIR intensity signals may be further analyzed to provide this data. Embodiments include using multiple NIR light sources having varying wavelengths to obtain changes in the oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin concentrations of the imaged tissue region. The tissue sample may be imaged over a time period, and the NIR images may be viewed statically or in real time after post-processing analyses have been performed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention comprise systems and methods for noninvasion measurements of physiological properties of tissues. The system comprises a light emitter, an optical detector, a mechanical sensor and a processor. The light emitter is capable of emitting light of at least two different wavelengths and comprises at least one light source. The processor is capable of evaluating physiological properties of the tissues from measurements of the optical and the mechanical sensor. More precisely, the processor is capable of evaluating physiological properties of venous blood by using data measured by the mechanical sensor and the optical detector. For example, the oxygenation of venous blood can be measured. Furthermore, the systems can optionally comprise a light emitter which emits three wavelengths and/or the light emitter and the optical detector are arranged in reflection geometry and are located at a distance of at most 10 mm from each other.

Abstract: A system and method for presenting information relating to heart data can involve operations including identifying arrhythmia events in physiological data obtained for a living being, receiving human assessments of at least a portion of the arrhythmia events, determining a measure of correlation between the human assessments and the identified events, and selectively presenting information regarding the identified events based on the measure of correlation. The operations can also include identifying atrial fibrillation events in physiological data obtained for a living being, obtaining heart rate data for the living being, and presenting information regarding the heart rate data and duration of the atrial fibrillation events together with a common time scale to pictographically represent heart rate trend with atrial fibrillation burden during a defined time period.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided that identifies the presence or absence of a P-wave within a set of ECG data. A computation processor identifies the R-wave and then analyses a section of the waveform within a predetermined time window preceding the detected R-wave peak. The waveform within the window is analysed to identify a candidate P-wave, and in response to identifying the candidate P-wave a first and second feature associated therewith is measured. A composite feature value is calculated from the first and second measures, and compared to a classification threshold value. In an exemplary embodiment, the first feature represents a height between a highest peak of the candidate P-wave and a trough of the Q-wave, and the second feature represents a time between the peak of the candidate P-wave and a peak of the R-wave.

When the signal processor determines that a difference of the maximum wave amplitude value minus the baseline value is less than a difference of the baseline value minus the minimum wave amplitude value, the signal processor performs a correction process for correcting the electrocardiogram signal.
