  • Patent number: 9113596
Abstract: A turf mower has one or more electrically powered cutting units and a traction drive system that is operatively powered by an internal combustion engine. A motor generator is also powered by the engine and is operatively connected to the engine and the traction drive system. A battery pack stores electrical energy and is charged by the motor generator during normal mowing on flat ground. When mowing on hillsides with increased mechanical power requirements above that supplied by the horsepower of the engine, a control system first removes the load imposed by the cutting units by supplying the electrical energy to the cutting units from the battery pack instead of the motor generator. If that is insufficient, the control system then uses energy from the battery pack to power the motor generator as a motor to supply additional mechanical power for use by the traction drive system.

  • Patent number: 9113618
Abstract: A process where materials are applied to a plastic fishing lure surface, producing a lure that possesses chromatic vicissitude as a result of water temperature fluctuations. A non-thermochromatic base layer of one or more colors is applied to the plastic fishing lure. This layer acts as the visual appearance of the fishing lure in the absence of temperature fluctuations. Clear extender is then used as an additive to the thermochromatic ink. This addition to the ink then allows the ink to be sprayed onto the surface of the lure. This ink-extender amalgam can be applied in multiple layers however the bottom layer must have the least amount of hue saturation. Each layer thereafter would increase in hue saturation. Multiple hue combinations can be utilized. Once the desired number of thermochromatic layers has been applied, an ultra-clear super high gloss lacquer finish is sprayed on to the exterior of all layers.

Abstract: Methods of controlling the feeding and/or breeding behavior of a target insect are disclosed in which a host plant is provided a substantial distance from a plant of interest, chemical attractant that induces the target insect to lay eggs on the host plant is applied to the host plant, application of the chemical attractant to the host plant is repeated as required to induce residual target-insect populations to lay eggs on the host plant, and wherein the behavior is controlled when a substantial number of off-spring belonging to subsequent generations themselves mature and display a preference for laying eggs on the same type of host plant on which they were reared without further application of the chemical attractant is provided. Also disclosed are methods of deterring target insect feeding and breeding on plants of interest by applying toxic plant extract to the plants of interest.
