Abstract: A protective member such as a helmet includes an outer layer and an inner layer interconnected by multiple connectors, such as extension springs, under tension along their longitudinal axis. The connectors absorb energy from an impact force by resisting further tension along their longitudinal axis and allow the outer layer and inner layer to move relative to each other. In the helmet application, the head of a user experiences less impact force, reduced change in momentum or position of the head and neck, reduced head and neck loads and reduced amounts of linear and rotational acceleration. The protective member can be used in numerous applications and environments, including for participants in sports, in applications including bumpers, passenger cabins, car seats and beds.

Abstract: The second transverse groove, provided in an area between the Chopart's joint and the Lisfranc joint, including the navicular bone where the arch of the foot is highest, is deeper than the first transverse groove, and is equal to or deeper than the third transverse groove. Therefore, the rest of the midsole is thin and it becomes easier for the shoe sole to flex, thereby facilitating the upward displacement of the area where the arch is highest. Thus, it is possible to suppress the lowering of the arch even if an exercise is continued over a long time. On the other hand, a flexion area including at least one third transverse groove is provided directly below the talus, and has a larger width than other transverse grooves. This makes it easier for the rear foot portion directly below the talus to flex, thereby facilitating the upward displacement of the area of the arch.

Abstract: A cane with grasping fingers. The cane includes a hollow shaft having a first end and a second end, a grasping mechanism within the first end of the shaft, and a release mechanism adjacent to the second end of the shaft. The release mechanism includes a handle, a trigger within the handle, and a release button. Pressing the release button extends the trigger beyond the handle and extends the grasping fingers beyond the first end of the shaft so that the grasping fingers are separated by a first distance. Squeezing the handle retracts the grasping fingers and reduces the distance between the grasping fingers to a second distance less than the first distance. Squeezing the handle so that the grasping fingers are fully retracted into the first end of the shaft results in the trigger and the grasping mechanism being locked into place until the release button is pressed again.

Abstract: Collapsible portable containers having a foldable wall section with shape-retaining characteristics are disclosed. In particular, collapsible, wheeled suitcases and trolleys are provided. One or more casters of a collapsible suitcase may be retractable to permit a folding region of a wall section to overlap the depth dimension of the casters when in the collapsed position. The folding region may include foldable tiers of a flexible material, each tier having at least one stable, relatively expanded position and at least one stable, relatively collapsed position; and an intervening, non-folding tier. The non-folding tier may be of the same material as the flexible tiers but stiffer due to its geometry, or it may be composed of a different, relatively rigid material.

Abstract: The invention discloses a novel hair holding device that facilitates attachment of a section of hair into a ponytail while also reducing the difficulty with which it can be tighten or removed. The device is a band made of a flexible non-slippery material, preferably silicone, containing equidistant apertures at each extremity. These apertures are used to insert a dumbbell-shape attachment component in order to fasten and tighten hair in a ponytail or other hairstyles. The attachment portion of the device also is hollow allowing for the insertion of decorative signs or accessories. The device can also be converted into a fashionable bracelet and more rugged versions can be used to bundle cords or other miscellaneous objects.
