Then, the method includes: pressing the board of the heat treatment device with the hot press member such that the conformable surface of the flexible pad presses onto the treatment sheet to transfer the treatment composition from the treatment sheet to the fibrous substrate using a wetting solution to carry the salt from the treatment sheet into the fibrous substrate; removing the heat treatment device and the treatment sheet from the fibrous substrate; and drying the fibrous substrate with the hot press member.

Abstract: The invention relates to multilayer composites having improved weathering properties without reducing flame retardation properties. The composites have a fluoropolymer layer over a thermoplastic layer. The multilayer composite may be a fluoropolymer layer directly over a relatively flammable substrate or non-flammable substrate (like PVC), or it may be a fluoropolymer layer over a relatively flammable cap layer, over a substrate (that is flammable or non-flammable). The composite is formed using coating, coextrusion and/or lamination techniques. The multilayer composite is especially useful in articles having surfaces that are used in a relatively horizontal position, including decking, railings, roofing and window profiles. The composites provide improved weathering for the substrate without a reduction in flame-resistance, when compared to the substrate without the outer fluoropolymer layer.

Abstract: An apparatus for fabricating a composite material by fusing a foam material to a plastic material is provided. The apparatus includes a pressure element and at least one heating element that directly heats the plastic material. The heated plastic material transfers absorbed heat energy to the foam material. The apparatus includes a transport element that transports the heated foam material and the heated plastic material to the pressure element. The pressure element and transport element presses the heated plastic material against the heated foam material. The transport element transports the pressed plastic material and foam material from the pressure element. The plastic material and the foam material fuse together to create the fused composite board.

Abstract: An expandable member configured to inflate and actuate a first element toward a second element in order to adhesively attach the first element with the second element is disclosed. The expandable member is made of a material (or materials) having a low tensile strength and flexural modulus such that the expandable member may conform to complex, or non-linear shapes. Also, the expandable member provides a sufficient force to the first element such that the first element applies at least a minimum threshold pressure to the adhesive layer in order to activate the adhesive layer. In some embodiments, the expandable members are used to actuate the first element. The described embodiments may be used to adhesively attach external or internal components of an electronic device.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an electronic device, and more particularly, to an electronic device with laminated structure and a manufacturing method thereof. The electronic device comprises: a first substrate; a second substrate; and a solid-state adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The solid-state adhesive layer reacts with the first substrate and the second substrate to form a chemically linked chain for bonding the first substrate and the second substrate. The present disclosure further selects a solid-state adhesive with both physical and chemical cohesiveness to laminate the two substrates; thereby making an electronic device more firm with higher shock resistance.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for processing a laminated structure having a plurality of laminate layers. The system includes a laser assembly that provides a plurality of laser burst emissions having predetermined laser characteristics and an optical assembly that focuses each laser burst emission to a predetermined focal line. The method selects laser characteristics and focal line parameters for each laser burst emission such that a defect having predetermined dimensions is formed at a predetermined location within the laminated structure. The laminated structure moves in relation to the optical assembly such that the plurality of laser burst emissions form a plurality of said defects corresponding to a multi-dimensional defect pattern within the laminated structure, each said defect being substantially generated by induced absorption.
