Abstract: Disclosed is a bullet with separable elements or projectiles which upon impact with an animal or human target, this bullet, having a high kinetic energy and under the influence of inertia, divides into 2-6 elements. The respective linear velocities of the elements are influenced by the variations in size and shape of the elements. When the bullet hits the target, the change in momentum is sufficient to break the individual or combination of internal or external connectors such as the Kevlar belts or internal rod connectors. Based on the differences in linear velocities, shapes and/or sizes the side elements proceed to varying depths within the target causing greater damage compared to a single trajectory bullet.

Abstract: A method for measuring an antler rack having a plurality of beams includes the steps of providing a flexible measuring tape that includes a front surface having graduated indicia printed thereon and a rear surface having an adhesive layer. A free end of the measuring tape is positioned at the tip of a selected beam of the antler rack and the tape extended to a terminal point/end of the tape. The measuring tape is severed at the terminal point so as to determine a length of the selected beam. Then, the severed portion is adhered to the selected beam to indicate that the selected beam has been measured. These steps are repeated until all beams have been measured and respective severed portions have been adhered to the antler rack. The adhered portions are then viewed and the highest numerical graduation indicates the score of the antler.

Abstract: A fiber optic sensing system for determining the position of an object requires a light source, an optical fiber, a fiber optic splitter, a fiber tip lens, an optical detector and signal processing circuitry. Light emitted by the light source is conveyed via optical fiber and the splitter to the lens and onto an object, such that at least a portion of the light is reflected by the object and conveyed via fiber and the splitter to the detector. Signal processing circuitry coupled to the detector determines the position of the object with respect to the lens based on a characteristic of the reflected light. The system is suitably employed with a hydraulic accumulator having a piston, the position of which varies with the volume of fluid in the accumulator, with the system arranged to determine the position of the piston, from which the volume can be calculated.

Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for populating a map interface with a route inspection portal and/or for generating travel route video. In an example, a map interface is populated with a map canvas illustrating a travel route. The map canvas is populated with inspection markers corresponding to imagery depicting travel route portions of the travel route. Responsive to identifying a selection of an inspection marker at an inspection location, imagery depicting the inspection location may be identified. The map canvas is populated with a route inspection portal for the inspection marker. The route inspection portal is populated with the imagery (e.g., street-side imagery of an intersection along the travel route). In an example, a travel route video, comprising video frames corresponding to an ordering of the imagery (e.g., from a start location to an end location) along the travel route, may be generated and/or played.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for presenting the viewability of a point of interest (POI) on a map are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A set of viewing coverage information is located. A subset of the viewing coverage information is associated with a point of observation on the map. A viewing coverage information corresponds to a view of the POI from the point of observation. The viewing coverage information comprises a viewing coverage fraction that represents a portion of the POI visible in the view. The point of observation is plotted corresponding to the subset of the viewing coverage information such that the point of observation is represented on the map as a visually distinct area on the map and has a corresponding combined viewing coverage value. A plot of the point of observation resulting from the plotting is presented on the map as an overlay.

Abstract: A system receives data corresponding to light signals in the plurality of cores, the plurality of cores including a first pair of cores spaced apart laterally along a first direction in the optical fiber, and a second pair of cores spaced apart laterally along a second direction in the optical fiber. The system determines a directional measurement of a dynamic parameter based on the data corresponding to light signals in the plurality of cores, wherein directionality of the directional measurement is indicated by a difference between a response of the first pair of cores to a stimulus and a response of the second pair of cores to the stimulus.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing sensor data and self-calibration are provided. In some embodiments, systems and methods are provided which are capable of calibrating a continuous analyte sensor based on an initial sensitivity, and then continuously performing self-calibration without using, or with reduced use of, reference measurements. In certain embodiments, a sensitivity of the analyte sensor is determined by applying an estimative algorithm that is a function of certain parameters. Also described herein are systems and methods for determining a property of an analyte sensor using a stimulus signal. The sensor property can be used to compensate sensor data for sensitivity drift, or determine another property associated with the sensor, such as temperature, sensor membrane damage, moisture ingress in sensor electronics, and scaling factors.

Abstract: Embodiments include a flow measuring system for measuring characteristics of a fluid flow. The flow measuring system can include a pair of rotating members rotating synchronously to the fluid flow. At least one rotating member can include a normally-reflecting portion and a non-normally reflecting portion. The normally-reflecting portion reflects an incident beam in a direction parallel to the normal direction of the plane of the normally-reflecting portion. The non-normally reflecting portion reflects the incident beam in a direction non-parallel to the normal direction of the plane of the normally-reflecting portion. The flow measuring system measures the optical characteristics of a beam reflected by the normally-reflecting portion and determines rotational characteristics of the rotating member. The flow measuring system determines characteristics of the flow based on the rotational characteristics of the rotating member.
