Abstract: The method and system produces a high-moisture aquatic feed that is stable in water and has a texture that more closely resembles naturally-occurring aquatic feedstocks. The system includes a “tempering unit” that is structured to allow an operator to control the temperature of a low-carbohydrate high-moisture extrudate after the extrudate leaves a conventional extruder. As the extrudate flows through a tubular matrix within the tempering unit, expansion of the extrudate is controlled to produce the high-moisture water-stable aquafeed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an edible 3D printer filament that incorporates an active ingredient such as an oil extract for taste, odor or medicinal benefit, and which is capable of retaining this benefit, despite the repeated thermal extrusion involved in 3D printing. The filament is made by mixing the active ingredient extraction with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), starch, and super disintegrant, and spray drying the result to a powderized form. The powderized water soluble polymer with active ingredient is mixed with excipient ingredients including a plasticizer, colored/dyed arabic gum, a gelling agent, fillers, flour, a binding or thickening agent (which also gives the benefit of being, a stabilizer), a lubricant, and a preservative, and is heated. The result is hot melt extruded into a filament with a diameter of 1.75 mm or 3 mm. When printed, the thermoplastic has good strength, stiffness, and physical properties, and can be 3D-printed in any shape.

Abstract: A method of par frying boneless whole meat muscle including trimming boneless whole meat muscle, portioning the boneless whole meat muscle into portions that have a thickness from 0.25 to 1 inch, a width of 0.25-1.5 inches and length of 1-7 inches. The portions are marinated, dusted, battered and breaded. The portions may be par fried in oil at a temperature between 190-200° C. for 25-30 seconds. The portions may then undergo freezing and then may be reheated when desired.

Abstract: Disclosed are antioxidative, natural compounds, their salts, chelates and cleavage derivatives that exhibit a superior combination of properties. The compounds can be used for a variety of purposes, including stabilizing foods, cosmetics, beverages and nutritional supplements. The compounds can be prepared by hydrolyzing a fulvic acid of formula I or VIII to provide at least one antioxidant compounds of formula II, formula III, formula IV, formula V, formula VI, formula VII, salts, or chelates thereof.

Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of developing a fat-processed starch which is excellent in terms of all of three properties, i.e., “workability during the preparation of a coating material for fries,” “function required of coating materials for fries (adhesion to ingredients)” and “moderate slurry viscosity.” The fat-processed starch of the present invention is produced by a process comprising the steps: adding a fat with which an emulsifying agent has been mixed to a starch having a water content adjusted to 25 to 45 mass %, in an amount of 0.02 to 0.4 mass % in terms of the weight of the fat excluding the emulsifying agent relative to the weight of dry matter of the starch, and mixing the fat and the starch; adjusting the water content of the mixture is 0.2 to 0.5 time that of the starch before the addition of the fat; and aging the starch having the adjusted water content.

The second panels are hingedly coupled to each other and to the first panels to substantially fill the spaces between the first panels when the first panels are in the open configuration. Flavor enhancers can be used including minced onion, mustard seed, dill weed, parsley flakes and black pepper. The dry spice/herb mixture is preferably combined with real mayonnaise and optionally white vinegar, chilled and then admixed with cooked and chilled potatoes to obtain a final potato salad product.

Abstract: Systems, techniques and methods for estimating the metabolic state or flux, e.g., the body energy state (“BES”) of a patient, are disclosed. The BES provides a deep insight into the nutritional needs of the patient, thus allowing for a sort of exquisite glycemic control with regard to the patient. The invention discloses systems and methods for estimating fractional gluconeogenesis. The invention also discloses systems and methods for estimating and targeting patient blood lactate concentration, both as a target itself and as an intermediate step to estimating and targeting patient fractional gluconeogenesis glucose production. Nutritional support methods and formulations are also disclosed. The invention is suitable for any sort of patient, including those who are injured, such as with traumatic brain injury, ill, or have other conditions that stress the metabolic system.

The compositions include, and the methods provide, a combination of an effective amount of epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCg) and an effective amount of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) to decrease the level of intramuscular FGF2, to enhance the regenerative capacity of muscle, or both.

Abstract: Disclosed here is a process for preparing a concentrated liquid composition (such as a broth) from poultry or other meat sources without the use of any enzymes. The resultant composition may have high content of solids but are pumpable or pourable and have relatively long shelf life at room temperature. Also disclosed are methods of extracting proteins from raw poultry or other meat sources at relatively low temperatures. Methods of making a high protein curd is also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a high-flavor fish sauce within a short period and a fish sauce manufactured by the same. The method for manufacturing the fish sauce can considerably reduce the conventional long fermentation and maturation period of from 1 to 3 years, improve the nutrient content and taste of the fish sauce due to a hybrid, remove the intrinsic fishy odor therefrom, enhance its sensory desirability and quality thus being highly competitive to be widely used in the fish sauce manufacturing industry.

Abstract: The problem of the present invention is to achieve both an enhancement of beer-like taste and an effect of suppressing an increase in blood neutral fat with respect to a non-fermented beer taste drink. Abstract: A resealable spigot for a coconut that provides easy access by consumers to the sterile coconut water within a coconut includes a valve seat positioned within a coconut aperture and a plunger sleeve positioned within the valve seat. The plunger sleeve has a based positioned membrane that seals the coconut aperture, A plunger-stopper is tethered to the plunger sleeve for shipping and storage and is used by the consumer to pierce the plunger sleeve membrane to gain access to the coconut water. The plunger sleeve is also used to reseal the coconut aperture to preserve any remaining coconut water for future consumption. Further provided is an additional embodiment for a spigot comprising a conduit having a spike-tip on one end and a spout on the other with a through bore therebetween.

This structure can discharge the frozen material in fluid form smoothly from inside of the attachment to outside of the container.

Abstract: A method for producing a vaporisable material comprising plant fibres for use in a vapour generating device which generates a vapour by heating the vaporisable material is disclosed. The method comprises reducing the particle size of the plant fibres to less than 1.5 mm and mixing plant fibres of at least two ranges of particle size. The invention also relates to vaporisable material for use in a vapour generating device obtainable by the method.

Abstract: Methods for the in situ formation of catalyst particles in cigarette paper are provided. A catalyst precursor, which can be incorporated into the cigarette papermaking process or can be combined with cigarette paper after formation of the paper, can be decomposed to form catalyst particles that are incorporated within the cigarette paper. Cigarette paper comprising the catalyst particles can be used to form a cigarette. During the smoking of a cigarette comprising the catalyst particles the amount of carbon monoxide in the mainstream smoke of the cigarette can be reduced.

Abstract: An electronic hookah designed for multiple users. The electronic hookah has up to four voltage regulators that can be controlled independently from one another. This allows each individual user to select a preferred vaporizing voltage or temperature for the substance that user desires to vaporize through the vaporizer attached to the hookah body. The electronic hookah can have ornamental lighting, a timer, a base unit, and magnetic connectors between the hookah hoses and the hookah body in order for quick removal. Additionally, the electronic hookah base can have inputs for a USB device or standard audio player, along with integrated speakers to provide audio output.

Abstract: A smokeless tobacco product includes smokeless tobacco and structural fibers. The structural fibers forming a network in which the smokeless tobacco is entangled. The structural fibers have a composition different from the smokeless tobacco. The tobacco-entangled fabric can have an overall oven volatiles content of at least 10 weight percent. In some embodiments, the structural fibers form a nonwoven network. In some embodiments, fibrous structures of the smokeless tobacco are entangled with the structural fibers.

Abstract: An augmented-reality helmet comprises a full-face motorcycle helmet with a look-down micro-display that projects a virtual image in-line with the helmet's chin bar. In order to accommodate the power requirements, the helmet includes a battery pack mounted at the base of the motorcyclist's skull. A wind turbine charges the batteries. Exhaust from the turbine is then deducted through the helmet to cool the battery pack and/or the motorcyclist's head. The turbine is controllable so that it can operate as a circulating fan to provide ventilation. A digital gyroscope provides a control input to a controller for operating a steerable headlight of the motorcycle to track the rider's head movements; and provides acceleration output to an algorithm that will contact emergency responders if the rider is non-responsive after a collision. A 170 degree rear-view camera is mounted within an aerodynamic fairing on the back of the helmet.
