Patent number: 9289696Abstract: The water desalination system using geothermal energy includes a plurality of stepped evaporation trays. Salt water flows into the uppermost tray and cascades to each successively lower tray to overflow from the lowermost tray when all trays are full. Two sloped glass panels pass solar energy therethrough to heat the water. Condensation collects on the inner panel and runs down the panel to collect in a trough at the lower edge. The desalinated water then flows to a collection tank. Additional heat energy is provided by a working fluid (e.g., air) that is pumped to subterranean levels where significant geothermal heat is produced. The heated air is then circulated around the evaporation trays to enhance evaporation. The required energy for the operation of the system may be provided by solar cells and wind energy. Mirrors and functionally graded material further increase the efficiency of the desalination system.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2013Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: King Fahd University of Petroleum and MineralsInventors: Ahmed Z. Patent number: 9289736Abstract: A nail polish mixing apparatus for stirring the mixing balls and nail polish contained with a nail polish bottle comprises a base, a vertical support column having an opening defined by a slot, and a motor in connection with a first end of a shaft. A linkage includes a top end that is rotatably fixed to a guide pin sized and configured to move up and down within the slot, and a bottom end that is rotatably fixed to a peripheral edge of a wheel that is in connection with a second end of the shaft. A ring on the linkage is provided for securing the nail polish bottle. Upon activation, the motor rotates the wheel, causing the bottom end of the linkage to move in a circular motion and the top end of the linkage to move up and down, thereby mixing the contents in the nail polish bottle.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2015Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: IZEN CONSULTING, INC.Inventors: Dennis K. Patent number: 9289737Abstract: A method of effectively mixing a gas with a liquid using an agitator. The agitator can be a component of a larger liquid analysis system. The method includes using the action of a reciprocating member to draw liquid from a sample liquid chamber through a liquid passageway into an agitation chamber. In the agitation chamber, a gas is added to the liquid and the mixture is then forced by the action of the reciprocating member through the liquid passageway into the sample liquid chamber.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2014Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENTS LIMITEDInventors: Martin Horan, Seamus O'Mahony

Patent number: 9289740Abstract: A reformer tube processing and filling system is provided for ensuring uniformity of reformer tube flow rates and reactivity. The disclosed invention provides a system for detecting and removing tube obstructions, as well as an automated process for verifying the flow rate for each tube and identifying tubes with abnormal flow rates to remove a source of human error and conserve labor costs. An automated tube filling system provides a calibrated fill mechanism coordinated with a calibrated loading rope withdrawal mechanism to ensure loading consistency. A lack of vibrating parts ensures a low dust count, and what little dust is present is removed via a built-in vacuum outlet in the loader.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2013Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Unidense Technology GmbHInventors: Peter Richter, Peter Markowski, Petras Kruopys

Patent number: 9289741Abstract: An apparatus for generating a large volume of gas from a liquid stream is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first channel through which the liquid stream passes. The apparatus also includes a layer of catalyst particles suspended in a solid slurry for generating gas from the liquid stream. The apparatus further includes a second channel through which a mixture of converted liquid and generated gas passes. A heat exchange channel heats the liquid stream. A wicking structure located in the second channel separates the gas generated from the converted liquid.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2013Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: BATTELLE MEMORIAL INSTITUTEInventors: Ward E. Patent number: 9289742Abstract: The invention provides a method of producing a protein multimer-nucleic acid complex comprising a protein multimer and any one target component of the protein multimer. A nucleic acid encoding the target component is subjected to in vitro translation to provide a translation product containing a target component-nucleic acid complex of the target component and the nucleic acid encoding the target component. A nucleic acid encoding a non-target component constituting the protein multimer together with the target component is translated into the non-target component by adding the nucleic acid encoding the non-target component to the previously provided translation product to provide the non-target component. The non-target component then is associated with the target component contained in the target component-nucleic acid complex to form a protein multimer, thus affording the protein multimer-nucleic acid complex of the protein multimer and the nucleic acid encoding the target component.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2013Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: GeneFrontier CorporationInventors: Kanehisa Kojoh, Takashi Kanamori, Shizue Katoh, Kumiko Tsuihiji

Patent number: 9289744Abstract: Irradiating assemblies can have a housing with a reflector extending linearly parallel to a lamp. Radiation can be emitted from one opening, for example in a bottom portion of the housing, as well as from another opening, for example a side opening in the housing. Irradiating assemblies can also have first and second reflector portions at angles with respect to each other wherein radiation is reflected out of a housing that does not have an end reflector. Irradiating assemblies can be configured to have cooling flow openings in side walls so that cooling fluid such as air can flow between the side walls and adjacent surfaces of a reflector. Irradiating assemblies can incorporate lamps having first and second electrodes wherein the first and second electrodes are oriented at an angle with respect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2012Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Inventor: Andrew Garcia
