Patent number: 9321531Abstract: An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is disclosed that includes a retractable payload delivery system. The payload delivery system can lower a payload to the ground using an assembly that secures the payload during descent and releases the payload upon reaching the ground. The assembly can also include a bystander communication module for generating cues for bystander perception. While the assembly securing the payload is being lowered from the UAV, the bystander communication module can generate an avoidance cue indicating that bystanders should avoid interference with the assembly. The assembly also includes sensors that generate data used, at least in part, to determine when the descending assembly is at or near the ground, at which point the assembly releases the payload. The bystander communication module can then cease the avoidance cue and the UAV can retract the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2014Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: Google Inc.Inventors: Leila Takayama, Matthew Ball, Joanna Cohen, Roger William Graves, Mathias Samuel Fleck, Andrew Lambert, James Ryan Burgess, Paul Richard Komarek, Trevor Shannon

Patent number: 9321532Abstract: The altitude-optimized, pressurized suit consists of a sheath of a sparingly expansible textile material. This sheath has fastened in it, and on it, by sewing, adhesive bonding or welding, compartments which are formed by virtue of the sheath being doubled, in that a strip of textile material is applied to the inside, or in the second case to the outside, of the sheath, and therefore it is connected to the sheath if only along its periphery. These compartments likewise consist of textile materials, in the first case of the same material as the sheath, and in the second case of an expansible knitted fabric. Flexible tubes-which expand under pressure are introduced into these compartments. The first-mentioned compartments act as “spacers” for tightening the suit over the topography of the wearer's body. The second-mentioned compartments act as “muscles” and press locally onto the wearer's body.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2011Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: G-nius Ltd.Inventor: Andreas Reinhard

Patent number: 9321547Abstract: A packaging machine includes a pair of brushes that hold a tubular film (Fm) therebetween while rotating and impeding the advancement of packaged articles. Consequently, an elongated stream of packaged articles aggregate at the leading end of the pair of brushes. When the pair of brushes release the tubular film, the packaged articles are again conveyed in a more closely aggregated state than the aggregated state thereof when the advancement of the packaged articles was temporarily impeded. The rotational axis of each brush is also biased a predetermined distance from the central axis of a core thereof. Since the brushes swing in conjunction with the rotation thereof, small vibrations and large swings cause the gaps between packaged articles to be readily filled and reduce the space occupied by the packaged articles. As a result, the bag size can be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 2012Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: ISHIDA CO., LTD.Inventors: Hideshi Miyamoto, Masashi Kondo, Makoto Ichikawa
