Abstract: The present technology relates to an encoding device and method, a decoding device and method, and a program therefor capable of improving audio signal transmission efficiency. An identification information generation unit determines whether or not an audio signal is to be encoded on the basis of the audio signal, and generates identification information indicating the determination result. An encoding unit encodes only audio signals determined to be encoded. A packing unit generates a bit stream containing the identification information and encoded audio signals. As a result of storing only encoded audio signals in the bit stream and storing the identification information indicating whether or not the respective audio signals are to be encoded in the bit stream in this manner, the transmission efficiency of audio signals can be improved. The present technology can be applied to an encoder and a decoder.

Abstract: The present technique relates to an encoding device and a method, a decoding device and a method, and a program capable of obtaining higher quality audio. An encoding unit encodes position information and a gain of an object in a current frame in multiple encoding modes. A compressing unit generates, for each combination of encoding modes of each pieces of position information and gains, encoded meta data including encoding mode information indicating the encoding modes and encoded data which are the encoded position information and gains, and compresses the encoding mode information included in the encoding meta data. A determining unit selects encoded meta data of which amount of data is the least from among the encoded meta data generated for each combination, thus determining the encoding mode of each pieces of position information and gains. The present technique can be applied to an encoder and a decoder.

Abstract: Average pixel luminosity is calculated for each frame comprising a content item. For each pair of adjacent frames, an IFD is calculated. The IFD represents the difference between a baseline pixel luminosity associated with each of the two frames. An initial set of cut frames is selected based on IFD values that are less than a minimum value IFDmin, or that are greater than a maximum value IFDmax. The positions of these initial cut frames are optimized using a numerical optimization technique that favors removal of frames corresponding to IFD extrema, but that also attempts to maintain a minimum time gap between cut frames. Selecting frames for removal is approached as a constraint minimization problem. Once an optimized set of cut frames is established, audio is cut and crossfaded in a temporal window surrounding cut frame positions.

Abstract: Cyclical pixel-based remapping techniques are disclosed for efficiently creating and displaying a video summary. Cyclical temporal remapping at the pixel level requires less processing power and eliminates the need for object identification and tracking, allowing for dynamic adjustment of summary video parameters while a user is viewing the summary video. An operator can select an archived camera feeds or video file, specify a time compression ratio or time interval over which to review video content, specify a motion sensitivity threshold, and then view a significantly condensed summary video that depicts all activity from the source video within a much shorter timeline. Furthermore, activity co-occurrence is preserved such that any activities that co-occur in the source video will also co-occur in the summary video.

Abstract: Various embodiments identify differences between frame sequences of a video. For example, to determine a difference between two versions of a video, a fingerprint of each frame of the two versions is generated. From the fingerprints, a run-length encoded representation of each version is generated. The fingerprints which appear only once (i.e., unique fingerprints) in the entire video are identified from each version and compared to identify matching unique fingerprints across versions. The matching unique fingerprints are sorted and filtered to determine split points, which are used to align the two versions of the video. Accordingly, each version is segmented into smaller frame sequences using the split points. Once segmented, the individual frames of each segment are aligned across versions using a dynamic programming algorithm. After aligning the segments at a frame level, the segments are reassembled to generate a global alignment output.
