Abstract: Light-sound warning system of all participants in road traffic is disclosed which solves the problem of safe and reliable signaling of a pedestrian on the road. A driver who saw a pedestrian on the road activates the switch which transmits the information to other vehicles via radio signals, and signals to pedestrians with light and audio signals that there is a vehicle approaching. This system protects both the pedestrian, and the driver who first spotted the pedestrian because a second vehicle driving behind the first vehicle often does not observe the situation in time causing a collision with both the vehicle and the pedestrian. The system is realized by connecting the following elements installed inside the vehicle: the central unit, the receiving-transmitting unit, the switch, the interior light signals, external audio signals and the internal sound signals; while the exterior light system is installed on the outer periphery of the vehicle.

Abstract: A computer system for intelligently parsing digital content and generating questions based upon the digital content can be configured to receive a digitally encoded file. The system can extract text content from the digitally encoded file. The system can then process the text content through an intelligent text analysis process. The intelligent text analysis process can identify key phrases within the digital content. The system can generate a question based upon a particular key phrase by manipulating a portion of the extracted text content. Further, the system can display, on a display device, the generated question.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for facilitating curricular content learning. The method comprises determining an initial order to present different types of learning modules to a user during a learning session. The learning modules include a curricular content learning module and a brain-training module configured to activate at least one brain system used for performing the curricular content learning module. The method further comprises presenting a first learning module of the plurality of learning modules on a user interface of a computer based, at least in part, on the initial order, recording user inputs during performance of the first learning module by a user, and updating the initial order based, at least in part, on the recorded user inputs to produce an updated order. A second learning module of the plurality of learning modules is presented on the user interface of the computer based, at least in part, on the updated order.

Abstract: A wearable device conveys information to a user. The device includes a master soft circuit cell and a plurality of actuation soft circuit cells. These cells are physically interconnected to form a garment that is worn by a user and each of these cells includes an electrically non-conductive fabric covering. Each of the actuation cells is electrically connected to and operates under the control of the master cell. The master cell is configured to wirelessly receive actuation instructions and activate a combination of the actuation cells based on the received actuation instructions. Each of the actuation cells is configured to generate a particular actuation that is perceived by one or more senses of the user whenever the actuation cell is activated by the master cell. A system also conveys affective state information to a user.

Abstract: A computer-assisted system and method for foreign language instruction. A motion picture having audio dialog in a target language is stored, in a computer-readable form, with chapter divisions, scene subdivisions and dialog sequence sub-subdivisions. In an Engage Mode, the motion picture is played on a display screen sequence-by-sequence, scene-by-scene, and chapter-by-chapter for a student listening to the audio dialog on a speaker. Interlinear target and source language subtitles are provided with interactive capabilities accessed through cursor movement or other means. The interlinear subtitles may be semantically color-mapped. After selecting a scene to view, the student is progressed through a series of modules that break-down and dissect each dialog sequence of the scene. The student studies each dialog sequence before moving to the next scene. Likewise, all scenes in a chapter are studied before moving to the next chapter and ultimately completing the motion picture.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for surgical training with low cost, reusable materials and a highly customizable virtual environment for skill-building. According to various embodiments, a surgical training tool is usable in conjunction with a support structure configured to at least partially constrain the tool movement. Meanwhile, the tool is tracked in real-time with off-tool detectors to generate a tool path driving a virtual rendering of the surgical training tool in an operative environment. The virtual rendering may be visually observable via a display device and may include a customizable and/or selectable operative environment with one or more structures that can be operated on by the virtual surgical training tool. By tracking the virtual tool interaction with the virtual structures, a task path may be established for documenting and/or objectively assessing the performance of one or more operative tasks.
