Publication number: 20160130760Abstract: The invention comprises a method for improving efficiency of uhle boxes in the process of paper manufacturing. The essence of the invention is the use of a homogeneous mixture of superheated humid air in the press section of a paper machine. A very intense mixing of air and steam takes place in venturi injector which creates a mixture, with appropriate composition and temperature, directed to a blowing nozzle. The mixture is then used in the forced flow through felt to a suction slot installed under the felt. The correct mixture composition ensures its minimum density, maximum speed and minimum time of flow through felt. It is important because the flow takes place when felt is running fast. The time ratio of the flow of homogeneous mixture of superheated humid air versus longitudinal movement of felt equals the actual working surface area of the suction slot. Extended working area directly influences the quality of felts conditioning and paper dewatering in the press section.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2015Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventors: Lucjan Edmund Raubic, Teresa Raubic

Publication number: 20160130802Abstract: Fire-rated wall construction components and wall systems for use in building construction. Embodiments can include tracks for holding studs which incorporate various geometries capable of receiving fire-retardant material, including but not limited to intumescent material. The fire-retardant material can be attached to compressible backer rods inserted within deflection gaps in the wall systems such that the fire-retardant material expands and seals gaps and/or areas between the tracks and wall components such as ceilings, floors, and drywall. Various assemblies and methods can be used to cover the deflection gap.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2016Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventor: Donald A. Pilz

Publication number: 20160130803Abstract: The membrane is for use with a planar surface and includes a generally planar member and a plurality of resilient tabs. The generally planar member, in use, is disposed in parallel relation to and adjacent the planar surface and, at least in use, defines a plurality of troughs, the troughs being interconnected to define a planar network of troughs that is disposed parallel to the surface, each trough presenting away from the surface in use and terminating in a common plane that is parallel to and spaced from the surface. The tabs are provided for each of one or more of the troughs, the tab lying in the common plane and spanning at least in part across said each trough.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2015Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventors: Joe Comitale, Svein Julton

Publication number: 20160130804Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid column damping system, particularly for damping building vibrations, comprising a tank (B, S1, S2) filled with a liquid, said tank having, in particular, a substantially U-shaped geometry in at least one direction. At least two columns (S1, S2) of the tank arranged at a distance from each other, particularly for forming communicating liquid columns, are connected by a base region (B) of the tank, and means for adjusting the damping of the liquid column damping system and/or the natural frequency of the liquid column damping system are provided. At least one column wall region (W1) in at least one of the columns (S1, S2), preferably in all columns, can be moved in order to change the column cross-section.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2014Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventor: Okyay ALTAY

Publication number: 20160130805Abstract: A seismic isolation assembly is defined by a first support plate and a second support plate disposed in parallel relation with a spacing being provided between the support plates. The first support plate is connected to ground and the second support plate is attached to a structure to be isolated. A set of wire rope isolators are disposed between the first and second support plates as well as at least one linear damper that is angularly disposed and mounted between the first and second support plates.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2016Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventors: Shubin Ruan, Thomas Zemanek

Publication number: 20160130806Abstract: A motorized acoustical banner that functions as a variable acoustic absorber is disclosed. The motorized acoustical banner includes a multi-panel fabric banner that allows for adjustable spacing between the layers of fabric as well as between the banner and the wall to which it is mounted. The motorized acoustical banner further includes a drum roller configuration that allows for easily and quickly changing the banner fabric without having to disassemble the entire device. The motorized acoustical banner also includes a tubular motor that can be removed from the device without removing the entire drum.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2015Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventors: Terry Strand, Dann Rypka, Aaron Harris, Denny Meyer

Publication number: 20160130807Abstract: Provided is a method of installing a tile mosaic upon a vertical concrete surface. The method includes providing a plurality of tiles, a tile support, and a concrete form. The plurality of tiles are adhered to the tile support to define a mosaic assembly. The tiles are positioned on the tile support corresponding to the mosaic. The mosaic assembly is connected to the concrete form, and concrete is poured within the concrete form such that a portion of the tiles become embedded within the concrete. The tile support is subsequently detached from the concrete form and the concrete form is removed from the cured concrete. The tile support is additionally removed from the plurality of tiles to reveal the mosaic on vertical surface of the concrete structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2015Publication date: May 12, 2016Inventors: Robin Brailsford, Ronald D.
