Abstract: The present invention announces a method for extending the storage life of a test reagent for quantification of ionic components in samples by using an anion sensor. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an anion sensor, wherein the storage life of the anion sensor itself may be extended, to thereby extend the storage life of the anion sensor beyond that of conventional anion sensors. According to the present invention, through adjustment of the pH of the internal solution (internal gel liquid), it is possible to provide an anion sensor that maintains consistent performance, and has longer storage life.

Abstract: Apparatus and method measure the flow rate of fluid for use in calibrating fraction collection in a chromatography system. An injector inserts a detectable substance into a flow of fluid. A first detector, disposed in a path of the flow of liquid with the substance, produces a signal in response to detecting the substance in the flow of fluid. A second detector, disposed downstream from the first detector in the path of the flow of fluid with the substance, produces a signal in response to detecting the substance in the flow of fluid. A computing system receives each signal produced by the first and second detectors upon detecting the substance in the flow of fluid, and computes a volumetric flow rate of the flow of fluid based on a time interval between the signals and a volume of the path between the first and second detectors.

Abstract: This invention describes a device for assaying a dry or small volume liquid sample on a lateral flow capillary assay by utilizing a supplementary non-sample aqueous solution that will push the sample up the assay without diluting or significantly diluting the original sample. This invention enables a sample to be assayed rapidly and/or on-site when the sample is in dried or solid form, or when the liquid volume is too small to complete an assay. As an option, the device can display a colored signal when a sufficient amount of liquid sample has been collected or added to the device. The minimal liquid volume requirement of the device significantly reduces the sample collection time to a matter of seconds and resolves situations in which fluids available for collection are not abundant. Therefore, this invention allows the lateral flow test device to be a more rapid, efficient, and versatile apparatus.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for determining the endotoxin content of an aluminium salt for use in medicine, comprising the steps of: a. Mixing the aluminium salt with a desorption buffer thereby desorbing any endotoxin from the aluminium salt; b. Separating the aluminium salt from the endotoxin; and c. Measuring the amount of endotoxin.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods, kits, and compositions for detecting subject anti-HCV antibodies in a sample using NS3 capture peptides. In certain embodiments, at least two NS3 helicase (NS3h) capture peptides and at least two conjugate peptides (e.g., NS3h conjugate peptides) are employed together, which allows for a broad dynamic range of subject antibody detection in a one-step type assay. In other embodiments, methods are provided of detecting NS3-specific subject antibodies without the use of a reducing agent. In some embodiments, NS3-specific subject antibodies are detected with a ‘double shot’ of NS3 conjugate peptide (e.g., conjugate peptide added to a sample both before and after washing).

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for the stratification of a multiple myeloma (MM) patient comprising determining whether or not B-cells, preferably malignant B-cells of said patient express BCMA protein on their surface. Also, methods for selecting an antibody-based multiple myeloma (MM) therapy is based on whether or not BCMA is expressed on the cell surface of B-cells, preferably malignant B-cells of a patient. Furthermore, antibody-based therapies for patients who have BCMA positive malignant B-cells are provided.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods, kits, and compositions for detecting and/or diagnosing metastatic potential of cancer cells or for evaluating prognosis in a patient with cancer by detection of the protein expression level of an HLA class I molecule and/or the copy number variation of a polynucleotide encoding the HLA class I molecule. The present invention also relates to the use of the protein expression level of an HLA class I molecule and/or the copy number variation of a polynucleotide encoding the HLA class I molecule as a prognosis biomarker and metastasis predictive biomarker of cancer.

Abstract: The present invention provides simple, rapid methods and procedures for analyzing cells, hereunder quantitative and qualitative assessment of cells, such as viability. The present invention relates to the use of various optionally substituted reporter compounds particularly detectable upon their reaction with thiol-containing species present in higher concentrations in intact (e.g., living) cells than in non-intact (e.g., dead, stressed and apoptotic) cells. The present invention also relates to the use of various optionally substituted reporter compounds particularly detectable upon their reaction with species present in intact and/or non-intact cells. Moreover, the present invention relates to the use of measuring techniques and/or instruments coupled with the use of various optionally substituted reporter compounds. The invention further relates to compositions used in methods for analyzing cells, such as a composition comprising N-(7-dimethylamino-4-methyl-3-coumarinyl)-maleimide (DACM).
