    Abstract: A near-surface collection manifold for extracting and/or venting sub-surface gas from beneath a geomembrane includes a plenum defining an enclosure with an upper portion. A conduit extends upwardly from the upper portion of the plenum, the conduit communicating with the interior volume of the plenum and has external threads for receiving a threaded nut thereon. The conduit is adapted and provided for extending through an aperture in the geomembrane for withdrawing sub-surface gas from within the interior volume of the plenum and through the geomembrane. A gasket having an opening formed therein is slipped over the conduit and above the geomembrane so that the geomembrane is sandwiched between the gasket and the upper portion of the plenum. A threaded nut is fitted to the conduit and above the gasket for securing the gasket against the geomembrane, thereby sealing the geomembrane to the upper portion of the plenum.

The ram of the pneumatic air cylinder is placed on top of the milling vial and the pneumatic air cylinder is pressed firmly against the cap of the milling vial. Next, the air inside the enclosure is evacuated of atmosphere after which the pressure is slowly released from the pneumatic air cylinder. During this stage of the method the operator is a safe distance from the enclosure. As pressure is removed from the pneumatic air cylinder the ram is retracted and the cap of milling vial is removed.

In use, a unibit is secured in the collet and the collet is placed in the tapered recess. While the file is vibrating, a user can rotate the unibit to expose its whole conical surface to the file, thereby sharpening the entire unibit.

One part comprises a cantilever, and has a tab with a through hole disposed substantially at the fixed end. The other two parts are assembled using a barbed post-and-hole joint, such that the post is inserted through the hole in the tab. The tab acts in tension at an angle to oppose the moment and shear generated by the weight of the cantilever. Other aspects of the invention include an additional dovetail joint connecting the cantilever part and the other part or parts, The dovetail joint may be blind, and may contribute to supporting the weight of, as well as opposing the moment and shear.
