  • Patent number: 9387729
Abstract: Both wet weather performance and steering stability performance are achieved. Lateral main grooves (16) formed in a tread (12) extend in a direction intersecting with circumferential main grooves (14) and open onto the circumferential main grooves (14). Water between the tread (12) and a road surface during wet weather running is accordingly discharged through the lateral main grooves (16) to the circumferential main grooves (14). The end portions of the lateral main grooves (16) opening onto the circumferential main groove (14) are provided with intersection portions 18 where first land portions (21) and second land portions (22) adjacent to each other in the tire circumferential direction at a lateral main groove (16) support each other in the tire width direction. The end portions at the circumferential main groove (14) side of the first land portions (21) and the second land portions (22) do not therefore readily tilt over even when a large slip angle is imparted to the tire.

Abstract: An instrument panel display pointer having an electronic display and range display. The electronic display rotates with the pointer allowing the pointer to point to a face cover that is mounted to the base. The face cover has values that in one example are indicative of a range of values. Examples of value range would include vehicle speed, RPMs, gallons or liters of fuel remaining, etc. The electronic display is used to display a number which indicates a more precise value, while the pointer indicates a value within a range of values shown on the face of the cover. As the pointer rotates with the ring gear to a different speed, the electronic display pointer also changes the value shown on the electronic display.

Abstract: A vehicle power source device reliably turns on a high voltage battery even if the output voltage of a low-voltage ancillary battery drops at the start of driving the vehicle. A request to run on a high-voltage battery (to turn on a relay contact point) is made by means of the operation to start driving a vehicle. A low-voltage ancillary battery and an auxiliary battery supply power to a power source circuit. A relay control unit supplied with power from the power source circuit turns on the relay contact point and turns on the high-voltage battery. When the high-voltage battery is on, the auxiliary battery is charged by means of a step-down circuit. The auxiliary battery holds the charged power by means of a diode without the power being consumed by a group of low-voltage loads.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a transmission, energy storage system (ESS), power inverter module (PIM), and controller. The PIM includes a boost converter having a bypass switch and a first plurality of switches, and also a power inverter having a second plurality of switches. The controller is programmed to execute a method that enables a DC boost converter of the PIM by opening the bypass switch when a speed and a torque of the electric machine are within a predetermined boost range. The controller bypasses the boost converter by transmitting a second switching signal closing the bypass switch when the speed and torque are not within the predetermined boost range. A voltage input to the power inverter is equal to the DC battery voltage whenever the boost converter is bypassed and exceeds the DC battery voltage whenever the boost converter is enabled.

The charge-discharge system includes the vehicle 10, an electric power cable 20, a plug-in station 30, a HEMS 40, and a commercial power supply 50. From the HEMS 40 to the vehicle 10, a request for charge to charge an electric storage device 11 and a request for discharge to allow an external electric load to use an electric power of the electric storage device 11 are transmitted. When a request is changed from the request for charge to the request for discharge, or vice versa, the vehicle 10 realizes a charge-discharge stop state in which neither a charging operation nor a discharging operation is performed without directly changing from the charging operation to the discharging operation, or vice versa.
