Abstract: A downcomer apparatus for use in a multi-stage bubble column humidifier. The humidifier comprises at least a first, second and third stage, wherein each of said stages includes an inlet, an outlet and a chamber defined by said stage, in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. In the humidifier, a heated liquid fluid stream flowing downwardly exchanges mass and heat with a cooler carrier gas stream flowing upwardly through the bubble column. A bubble generator comprising a perforated plate, or sparger, passes the carrier gas, such as air, from a lower chamber to form bubbles in a fluid, such as water, forming a bath on an upper chamber. An off-set arrangement of downcomer apparatuses, wherein said apparatus comprises a funnel, a watergate, and a downcomer, is used to prevent a recirculation of humid bubbles from the upper chamber to the lower chamber, thus preventing the air stream from circumventing the bubble generator in the form of the humid bubbles.

Abstract: A multi-tower blower purge dryer system for use with a compressed air stream provided from a compressor is disclosed. In one form the system includes two dryers that can be alternated to dry the compressed air stream. The tower used to dry the compressed air stream can be referred to as the drying tower, and the tower being regenerated can be referred to as the regenerated tower. A number of valves and passages are used to connect the towers to one another and/or to an intake passage from the compressor. A blower purge heater is provided to regenerate the dryers. After a regeneration step in which a tower may be relatively warm, the valves can be actuated to place the warm regenerated tower in fluid communication with the intake passage from the compressor, which can then provide air to the drying tower. In this manner the regenerated tower is cooled.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods for C2 capture that use phase change ionic liquids (PCILs) to remove the C02 from flue gas or other gas streams containing C02. PCILs have high C02 uptake and form a liquid PCIL- C02 complex when they react with C( )2. When the liquid PCIL- C02 complex is heated to regenerate the solid PCIL material by removing the carbon dioxide, part of the heat needed to release the C02 can be supplied by the heat of fusion of the PCIL as it solidifies. Utilization of the heat of fusion of the PCIL to assist in its own regeneration can substantially reduce the parasitic energy loss associated with post-combustion C02 capture.

Abstract: A connecting system (1) has at least one connector (2) for a filter cassette (4) that can be inserted into a filter holder and has filter layers (5) between two end plates (6), and seals (7) between the filter layers (5) and/or between the end plates (6) and an adjacent filter layer (5). The connector has tensioning parts that engage in one another in a longitudinally displaceable manner and that can be fixed to the end plates (6) via their ends facing away from one another. The connector exerts a pretensioning force onto the end plates (6) when it is deflected to its maximum extent. The pretensioning force pulls the end plates (6) towards the filter layers (5), and when a contact-pressure force superimposed on the pretensioning force is applied to the end plates (6), the tensioning parts can be pushed towards one another correspondingly with the end plates (6).
