  • Patent number: 9475021
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for providing on-site electrical power to a fracturing operation, and an electrically powered fracturing system. Natural gas can be used to drive a turbine generator in the production of electrical power. A scalable, electrically powered fracturing fleet is provided to pump fluids for the fracturing operation, obviating the need for a constant supply of diesel fuel to the site and reducing the site footprint and infrastructure required for the fracturing operation, when compared with conventional systems. The treatment fluid can comprise a water-based fracturing fluid or a waterless liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fracturing fluid.

  • Patent number: 9475029
Abstract: A reactor and process for the production of bio-diesel. The reactor includes one or more coiled reaction lines. The lines are positioned within a tank containing a heat transfer media such as molten salt, maintained at about 750° F. A pump circulates the media within the tank. An emulsion of alcohol; refined feed stock, including glycerides and/or fatty acids; and preferably water is pumped through the reaction lines at temperatures and pressures sufficient to maintain the alcohol in a super-critical state. The curvature of the coils, pump pulsing, and the flow rate of the emulsion keep the emulsion in a turbulent state while in the reactor, ensuring thorough mixing of the alcohol and feed stock. The alcohol reacts with the glycerides and fatty acids to form bio-diesel. The reaction is fast, efficient with regard to energy input and waste generation, and requires minimal alcohol.

  • Patent number: 9475044
Abstract: The test strip stabilizes skin prior to incision by a lancet tip. The innovative test strip includes a pair of skin contacting tabs that apply pressure linearly to the skin to stretch the skin taut. Beneficially an incision by a lancet tip to an accurate depth can be formed on the taut skin. Moreover, pressure from the tabs is applied linearly to the skin which results in a higher ratio of pressure to surface that can be reached as compared to applying pressure laminarily to skin. Some manufacturing techniques of the skin contacting tabs include cutting or stamping through all of the layers and test area of the test strip to form these tabs. These techniques increase the manufacturing efficiency and cost savings associated with test strips and integrated lancet testing devices. Contamination from other sampling events is eliminated since the test strips are disposed of after each use.

Abstract: A flow disrupter in a tube chamber of a tube assembly for homogenizing sample materials includes a flow-disrupting body that extends generally transversely into the tube chamber and divides the tube chamber into two sub-chambers. The flow-disrupting body includes at least one narrowed flow passageway through which the sample flows back and forth in both axially reciprocating directions as the tube assembly is vigorously shaken at high speeds faster and more reliably than what can be accomplished by hand shaking. And the flow-disrupting body includes at least two flow-interrupting surfaces facing generally in opposite axial directions and against which the sample impacts in each respective axially reciprocating direction as the tube assembly is vigorously shaken. In this way, the vigorous high-speed shaking of the tube assembly including the flow disrupter results in significant particle-size reduction of the sample by mechanical shear, fluid shear, cavitation, and/or pressure differentials.

Abstract: Some of the embodiments described herein relate to liner elements such as lifter bars that can be used in grinding mills. In one example, a lifter bar has a top elastomeric layer and a bottom elastomeric layer, the composition of the top elastomeric layer being different from that of the bottom elastomeric layer. In another example, a lifter bar is constructed from carbon black-reinforced natural rubber and has a leading face and a protrusion at a top region of the leading face. In a further example, a lifter bar is fabricated from carbon black-reinforced natural rubber and has a leading face geometry such that face angle ? remains 25° or less over an operational period measured form the time the lifter bar is new, until the height of the lifter bar is reduced by a certain amount, e.g., by 80%. Also disclosed are methods for manufacturing an elastomeric liner element and for grinding an ore.

Abstract: A cutting blade assembly establishes a bidirectional and/or multifaceted scissor-type cutting action to efficiently and effectively process various types of debris encountered by the cutting blade assembly. The assembly includes a cutting plate and a cutting hub configured for relative rotation. A cutting slot is formed in the cutting plate and intersects the axial face to define a cutting edge at the intersection of the cutting slot and the axial face. The cutting hub has a cutting arm positioned adjacent to the axial face. When the cutting plate and the cutting hub undergo relative rotation, the cutting arm passes adjacent to the cutting edge to perform a scissor-type cutting action.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for disintegrating an elastomer is provided. The elastomer is moved across a base relative to a cutting tool and toward the cutting tool. The cutting tool has a cutting wedge, which has a cutting edge and a rake face adjacent to the cutting edge. After the cutting wedge comes into contact with the elastomer, the elastomer is first at least partially compressed only by the rake face between the rake face and the base before the cutting edge cuts through the elastomer. An elastic evasive movement of the elastomer is avoided because of the initial planar compression of the elastomer by the rake face. Thus, it is possible to cut off significantly thinner pieces from the elastomer.

Abstract: A magnetic inline filter is provided. A piston rod of a fluid cylinder is retracted to the top to locate an inner circumferential surface side magnet and an outer circumferential surface side magnet in filtration positions opposed to a space. In this state, a solenoid of a changeover valve is actuated to shut off a discharge port. A coolant is introduced into the space from an introduction port in the vicinity of the lower end of an outer pipe. Since a magnetic field in a radiation direction is intense, chips in the coolant are attracted to wall surfaces on both sides of the space and the coolant is filtrated. When the supply of the coolant is continued, the chips attracted to the wall surfaces are accumulated and bridged. As a result, since the coolant passes through gaps of the bridged chips, it is possible to perform precise filtration.
