  • Patent number: 9483077
Abstract: Charge signal simulates a stock charger to connected portable device(s) to trigger a charging cycle. Monitoring charging port(s) for overcurrent and/or electrical short charging conditions allows charge current to be modified when necessary. While attached portable device(s) continue to charge, docking station automatically switches from charger mode to data transfer mode so that other attached devices can use and/or be used by portable device(s). Once data lines, except power line, are switched portable device(s) simultaneously charges and transfers data at same time. To identify proper charge signal, vendor identification (VID) or product identification (PID) may be read from attached portable device(s) and referenced against charging standards. Updatable firmware allows new device configurations and corresponding charge signals to be added.

  • Patent number: 9483084
Abstract: A frictional hinge assembly for use with electronics devices such as computer notebooks having base and lid portions may present a higher level of frictional resistance to rotation in one direction than in the other. The hinge may comprise a base-mounted helical sleeve having loops that embrace a rotational shaft that is connected to a lid. As the lid is opened, the rotation of the shaft may cause the loops of the helical sleeve to tighten and thereby generate frictional forces, which requires a greater opening force to overcome than when the lid is being closed, in which case the loops loosen. The helical hinge may have applicability for notebook computers, electronic devices having clamshell form factors, all-in-one designs and tablets using kickstands and the like.

Abstract: In embodiments of adaptive idle timeout for storage devices, a computing device includes a storage device that stores data for read and write access on a rotating media. An operating system of the computing device maintains a device cycle number as an accounting of each time the storage device is powered on-off. The computing device implements a storage device driver that is implemented to obtain the device cycle number of the storage device from the operating system, and determine a projected cycle number over a duration of operational time of the storage device based on the device cycle number. The storage device driver can then determine whether the projected cycle number exceeds a maximum of power on-off cycles within a warranty period of the storage device, and control a frequency of the storage device being powered-off if the projected cycle number exceeds the maximum of power on-off cycles.

  • Patent number: 9483108
Abstract: A memory device includes a voltage regulator, whose output provides a voltage supply for various other components of the memory device, including a command user interface. The memory device is placed into an ultra-deep power-down mode by providing to the memory device a software command, which causes the output of the voltage regulator to be disabled. To bring the memory device out of the ultra-deep power-down mode, a chip select signal is provided to the memory device, which includes a wake-up circuit that remains powered on even when the memory device is in the ultra-deep power-down mode. Receipt of the chip select signal while the memory device is in the ultra-deep power-down mode causes the output of the voltage regulator to be enabled, thereby providing power to the components that were completely powered down.

Abstract: A remote desktop client application on a client device receives screen data from a remote desktop on a remote server and displays a portion of the remote desktop, a mode icon, and direction icons. In a first mode, the remote desktop client detects a direction icon being selected by the user's eye movements and locally scrolls the remote desktop to display another portion of the remote desktop. The remote desktop switches to a second mode after detecting the mode icon being selected based on the user's eye movements. In the second mode, the remote desktop client detecting a direction icon being selected by the user's eye movements and sends a scrolling command to remotely scroll in the remote desktop.
