Abstract: A dish rack is supported for vertical movement relative to a dishwasher tub between lowered and raised positions. To raise the rack, spring biased locking levers provided on side walls of the dish rack are pivoted to cause wing members of the locking levers to release locking tabs, extending in a cantilevered fashion from locking straps secured to the rack, from locking openings provided in adjuster arms which are fixed vertically relative to the tub, thereby disengaging the locking straps from the adjuster arms to enable the rack to be lifted to the raised position. To lower the rack, the locking levers are again pivoted to reposition support members of the locking straps into positions offset from the adjuster arms, thereby enabling the rack to be guided to the lowered position where the locking tabs automatically engage the adjuster arms.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a software algorithm that measures the number of corneal nerve fibers in images captured by microscopy including images from patients obtained by in vivo corneal confocal microscopy, a noninvasive technique. The present invention solves a complicated segmentation problem, by exploiting the piece wise linear nature of the nerve fibers—i.e., the nerves are made up of a lot of straight line segments. The image is split into sub-regions, where each sub-region contains nerves mostly running in the same, straight direction. Having the nerves all in straight-lines within a single 2d image region dramatically simplifies the segmentation problem. The image intensities are summed in the direction of the nerves to reduce the 2d representation to a 1d signal having pronounced peaks where the nerves are located.

Abstract: Devices and methods to measure and visualize the cardiac and respiratory signal of a human or animal subject during a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam are described. This includes a video camera compatible with the MRI scanner, a means of transferring the video data away from the MRI scanner, a light source that illuminates the subject, and an algorithm that analyses the video stream and uses small image intensity changes and motion information to extract cardiac signal and respiratory signals of the subject. These methods make it practical to use optical tracking to monitor and correct for cardiac and respiratory motion during MRI, as well as provide basic patient monitoring with no physical contact to the subject.

Abstract: A method of calibrating a PAI system (401-413) is described. The method includes a signal processing unit (404) determining optical fluence at voxels within arteries of a human or animal, and interpolating from these measurements to provide a fluence map with a fluence value for all voxels of interest. The system (404) stores the fluence map for subsequent use in making PAI measurements. The arterial optical fluence may be determined on the basis that the arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2) is the same throughout the arterial part of the circulation system.

Abstract: Peak specification unit 31 specifies, based on a plurality of photoacoustic-images according to detection signals of photoacoustic-waves detected in a plurality of postures, a photoacoustic-image with the strongest detection signal of a detected photoacoustic-wave among the plurality of photoacoustic-images in a peak search mode. Posture determination unit 32 determines whether or not the posture of the probe 11 at the time of detecting photoacoustic-waves of a generation source of the photoacoustic-image matches the posture of the probe 11 at the time of detecting photoacoustic-waves of a generation source of the photoacoustic-image specified by the peak specification unit in a normal mode. Display control unit 27 displays the photoacoustic image on a display screen, and in a case where the posture determination unit 32 determines that the postures match each other, displays a report indicating the postures matching each other on the display screen.

Abstract: Disclosed are a probe for photoacoustic measurement which can suppress generation of artifacts obstructive to signal observation in a photoacoustic measurement, and a photoacoustic measurement apparatus including the same. The probe for photoacoustic measurement includes a light emission unit which emits measurement light to a subject, and an acoustic wave detection unit which detects a photoacoustic wave generated in the subject by the emission of measurement light. An emission end surface of the light emission unit is positioned to a side where the acoustic wave detection unit is located, with respect to a contact plane of the probe, and an optical axis at the emission end surface is inclined to a side opposite to the side on which the acoustic wave detection unit is positioned with respect to a normal direction of a detection surface of the acoustic wave detection unit.
