Abstract: An image processing apparatus capable of properly suppressing coloring caused by image restoration processing. A feature amount of a color of a pixel in an image before restoration processing is calculated as a first color feature amount. Image restoration processing is performed on the image using an image restoration filter. A feature amount of a color of a pixel in an image after restoration processing is calculated as a second color feature amount. High-frequency components included in the first color feature amount and the second color feature amount are attenuated according to a photographing condition at the time of photographing the image. Pixel values of the image after restoration processing are corrected based on the first color feature amount and the second color feature amount of which the high-frequency components are attenuated.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, a quality trainer and quality calculator collaborate to establish a consistent perceptual quality metric via machine learning. In a training phase, the quality trainer leverages machine intelligence techniques to create a perceptual quality model that combines objective metrics to optimally track a subjective metric assigned during viewings of training videos. Subsequently, the quality calculator applies the perceptual quality model to values for the objective metrics for a target video, thereby generating a perceptual quality score for the target video. In this fashion, the perceptual quality model judiciously fuses the objective metrics for the target video based on the visual feedback processed during the training phase. Since the contribution of each objective metric to the perceptual quality score is determined based on empirical data, the perceptual quality score is a more accurate assessment of observed video quality than conventional objective metrics.

Abstract: A method for recognizing a change of a relative yaw angle at a stereo video system for a vehicle. An image pair is read in from first and second cameras at a first time, and a further image is read in from the first camera at a later time. A stationary surface is ascertained using the image pair and the stereo base to obtain an angle of inclination of the stereo video system. The stationary surface is determined using the first image of the image pair and the further image to obtain a comparison angle. A correspondence transformation between the first image and the further image is acquired if the stereo video system has moved by a distance between the first time and the further time. The angle of inclination is compared with the comparison angle to recognize the change of the relative yaw angle.

Abstract: Tomographic reconstruction is performed of cross-sectional images of downhole or surface multiphase flows containing water (brine), oil, and gas phases. Measures are obtained of digital transmission (or analog attenuation) and also of analog transit time to form two views of the same cross sectional flow in a location of interest in a flow conduit. The measures are then merged by synthesizing a composite image of the multiphase flows. Rather than performing a complex tomographic reconstruction requiring a large number of calculations, measures are also obtained directly from the tomographic pattern which can be used to reconstruct an approximation of the cross sectional flow by the superposition of circles of variable position, radius and density representing flow patterns.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for incrementally aligning multiple scans of a three-dimensional subject. This can be accomplished by establishing an updated aligned set of scans as each new scan is sequentially processed and aligned with the existing scans. In such embodiments the pairwise and global alignment processes are effectively combined into a single collective alignment process. This collective alignment converges to an optimal alignment faster than the sequential pairwise alignment process that existing solutions use. The collective alignment enforces pairwise alignment between the individual scans in the aligned set of scans. This is because each scan comprising the aligned set can be aligned to the next incremental scan if any scan included in the aligned set can be aligned to the next incremental scan. The pairwise alignment between the scans comprising the aligned set is thus a known function.

Abstract: There is described herein a method for recovering missing information in diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) data. The data are modeled according to the theory of moving frames and regions where frame information is missing are reconstructed by performing diffusions into the regions. Local orthogonal frames computed along the boundary of the regions are rotated into the regions. Connection parameters are estimated at each new data point obtained by a preceding rotation, for application to a subsequent rotation.

Abstract: Displaying a status of entities in a segmented graph on a display are provided. An example includes representing a computing network as a geometric shape, wherein each of a number of segments of the geometric shape represent individual entities. A first region in the geometric shape is displayed to indicate the type of networked units represented by each of the segments. A second region that represents a first status level for an event for an entity is displayed. A color of a segment is changed, or a length of the segment is extended into the second region, or both, to indicate the first status level for the event.

Such techniques may include repeatedly selecting target positions for matching a kinematic model of an articulated body, generating virtual end-effectors for the kinematic model and corresponding to the target positions, generating an inverse kinematics problem including a Jacobian matrix, and determining a change in kinematic model parameters based on the inverse kinematics problem until a convergence is attained.

Abstract: In some aspects, systems and methods provide for forming groupings of a plurality of independently-specified computation workloads, such as graphics processing workloads, and in a specific example, ray tracing workloads. The workloads include a scheduling key, which is one basis on which the groupings can be formed. Workloads grouped together can all execute from the same source of instructions, on one or more different private data elements. Such workloads can recursively instantiate other workloads that reference the same private data elements. In some examples, the scheduling key can be used to identify a data element to be used by all the workloads of a grouping. Memory conflicts to private data elements are handled through scheduling of non-conflicted workloads or specific instructions and/or deferring conflicted workloads instead of locking memory locations.

Abstract: A method for determining a pixel value of a texture pixel associated with a three-dimensional scan of an object includes prioritizing a sequence of image frames in a queue based on one or more prioritization parameters. The method also includes selecting a first image frame from the queue. The method also includes determining a pixel value of the particular texture pixel in the first image frame. The method further includes selecting a second image frame from the queue. The second image frame has a higher priority than the first image frame based on the one or more prioritization parameters. The method also includes modifying the pixel value of the particular texture pixel based on a pixel value of the particular texture pixel in the second image frame to generate a modified pixel value of the particular texture pixel.

For example, systems and techniques are provided for transferring changes in geometric properties between the geometric models. A method may include obtaining a first geometric model of the character and a second geometric model of the character, the geometric models having different resolutions with different numbers of data points. Abstract: Objects within two-dimensional video data are modeled by three-dimensional models as a function of object type and motion through manually calibrating a two-dimensional image to the three spatial dimensions of a three-dimensional modeling cube. Calibrated three-dimensional locations of an object in motion in the two-dimensional image field of view of a video data input are determined and used to determine a heading direction of the object as a function of the camera calibration and determined movement between the determined three-dimensional locations. The two-dimensional object image is replaced in the video data input with an object-type three-dimensional polygonal model having a projected bounding box that best matches a bounding box of an image blob, the model oriented in the determined heading direction. The bounding box of the replacing model is then scaled to fit the object image blob bounding box, and rendered with extracted image features.
