Abstract: A network management system for a wireless communications network adaptively selects wireless modems to use in communicating messages between a control system and downhole equipment. The wireless modems are selected based on a monitored signal to noise ratio. The network management system may be centralized within the network or within a surface control system or can be decentralized so that a plurality of the wireless modems can adaptively determine routing in the network. The network management systems can be used in conjunction with a backbone network architecture to achieve further efficiencies in network throughput.

Abstract: An telemetry module includes a valve assembly having a gate defining gate valve flow ports and a valve seat defining valve seat flow ports. A first solenoid assembly is arranged on a first side of the valve assembly and includes a first valve train engageable with the gate and a first push solenoid operatively coupled to the first valve train to move the gate in a first direction. A second solenoid assembly is arranged on a second side of the valve assembly and includes a second valve train engageable with the gate and a second push solenoid operatively coupled to the second valve train to move the gate in a second direction opposite the first direction. Moving the gate in the first direction with the first solenoid increases flow through the gate and alternately moving the gate in the second direction with the second solenoid decreases flow through the gate.

Abstract: A system and method of sensing fluid in a wellbore, where fluid along a range of radial locations in the wellbore is diverted along a flow path that runs adjacent a fluid sensor. Diverting the fluid from the range of radial locations provides a representative sample of the fluid flowing in the wellbore. Further, the diverted fluid forms a continuous volumetric flow past the fluid sensor to avoid fluid stagnation adjacent the fluid sensor. Diverting the fluid flow can be accomplished by elongate diverter wings attached at discrete circumferential locations around an outer surface of a fluid sensor and that project at oblique angles to the direction of flow. Elongate members can be used for diverting flow, where the distal ends of the elongate members attach to a downhole tool, and vane members span across selected adjacent members for directing flow to the sensor.

Abstract: A method for in situ solution mining of a mineral from an underground evaporite stratum using a set of wells in fluid communication with at least one mineral cavity with some wells operated in solvent injection mode and other wells operated in brine production mode and optionally with some inactive wells, comprising switching the operation mode of one or more wells. The evaporite mineral preferably comprises trona. The at least one cavity is preferably formed by lithological displacement of the evaporite stratum at a weak interface with an underlying insoluble stratum by application of a lifting hydraulic pressure. The extracted brine can be processed to make valuable products such as soda ash and/or any derivatives thereof, rock salt, or potash. This method can provide more uniform dissolution of mineral in the cavity, can minimize flow channeling, can minimize sodium bicarbonate blinding for solution mining of incongruent trona ore, and/or may avoid uneven deposit of insolubles.

Abstract: A compression-release brake system is provided that includes a lost motion exhaust rocker assembly, an actuation piston, and a reset device. The actuation piston includes an actuation piston body that is slidably received by the rocker arm to define a piston cavity in the rocker arm and is movable between piston retracted and extended positions. The actuation piston is configured to be operatively associated with the exhaust valve to permit unseating of the exhaust valve from the seated state. An actuation piston check valve is configured to move between closed and open positions to permit hydraulic fluid flow through an actuation piston communication port to the piston cavity. The reset device includes a reset check valve and a reset pressure control spring for applying a biasing force to the reset check valve to urge the reset check valve toward an open position.

Abstract: A rapid engine oil draining valve is a device utilized to enable and disable the flow of engine oil from the drain port of a vehicle engine oil pan. A valve that is mechanically coupled to a lever is positioned within a valve housing and may be opened or closed by turning the lever. The lever may be turned within a lever slot in order to open or close the valve. A protective cap is removably engaged to a neck that is connected to the valve housing. The protective cap locks the lever in place within a retention nook that traverses into the lever slot in order to prevent accidental turning of the lever and subsequent draining of the engine oil. The protective cap may be partially or fully removed from the neck to free the lever from the retention nook and enable the lever to be turned.

Abstract: Systems and methods for tracking and indicating a status for the deliverable reductant, such as ammonia, in a canister used in an exhaust gas after-treatment system are disclosed. An on-board system provides a visual display to indicate either generally or specifically the fill-status of each of a plurality of loaded ammonia canisters, while a separate canister system is able to be periodically updated while on-line and, using a memory device such as a RFID tag, carry the updated fill-status even when it is removed from the vehicle system. The residing memory device can be read off-line to determine the ammonia fill-status. Metering of the ammonia flow allows real-time monitoring and updating of the canister status.

Abstract: A method for operating an exhaust gas system is provided. The method includes determining an amount of a reducing agent to be supplied to the exhaust gas of an engine and evaluating measurements which indicate a content of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas downstream of a catalytic device adapted to diminish the content of nitrogen oxides. A magnitude and a frequency of the measurements are taken into account in determining the amount of the reducing agent to be supplied. A plurality of measurements is captured during a predetermined period of time. A magnitude of a measurement captured within this period of time is related to a quantity derived from the respective magnitudes of the plurality of measurements. The related measurement is utilized to determine the amount of the reducing agent to be supplied. A control assembly for operating an exhaust gas system is also provided.
