Abstract: A jacking pole apparatus is disclosed. A jacking pole may include two tubular members, slidably engaged with one another in such a manner that they may extend or expand. A jacking pole may engage two surfaces or objects and extend therebetween in order to provide support. Further, a jacking pole may vertically displace an object or surface. A jacking pole utilizes locking mechanisms to remain in certain positions and provide continuous support for surface and objects. The locking mechanisms may also be utilized during vertical displacement in order to facilitate such motion.

Abstract: A privacy booth for isolating a user from the surrounding environment so as to provide acoustical and possibly visual privacy to the user. A single privacy booth may be utilized when a user must interact with an electronic device or terminal, for example, an ATM. When interacting with a human, for example, a bank teller, a pair of joined privacy booths provide acoustical and visual privacy to both interacting parties. The solid but possibly transparent barrier between the user and the teller helps prevent “snatch and grab” type crimes and protects the teller from armed robbery attempts. Access to the user's privacy booth may be controlled using access keypads that open semi-circular doors. A transaction pass-through tube allows for passing documents, etc. back and forth between the user and the teller. The privacy booth may have an elevatable and rotatable floor allowing access to wheel chair confined persons.

Abstract: An apparatus for automatically filling water in an above-ground pool. The apparatus includes an open-sided enclosure, an inlet pipe, an intermediate pipe, a water-level control valve, and pool mounting mechanism. The open-sided enclosure houses and supports the constituents of the apparatus. The inlet pipe connects to an external water supply and traverses normal and into a top wall of the open-sided enclosure. The intermediate pipe is telescopically engaged into the inlet pipe and fixed to the water-level control valve. This puts the inlet pipe and the water-level control valve in fluid communication. The pool mounting mechanism is mechanically integrated into the open-sided enclosure and attaches the apparatus to a frame of the pool. The water-level control valve manages water being pumped into the pool in order to maintain a constant water level. An actuatable lifter is used to raise or lower the water-level control valve within the open-sided enclosure.

Abstract: A method and device are presented that creates a channel adjacent a nailing flange of a window in between the window and the rough opening that receives the window. The channel is created by establishing a barrier that prevents foam insulation inserted into the space between the window and the rough opening from reaching the nailing flange. The channel then ensures proper drainage of water that enters the window cavity down to the window sill. A gasket is presented that can be attached to the window or the rough opening to create the barrier. Alternatively, a disintegrating object or a wicking object can be used to impede the flow of insulation foam and to create the appropriate channel. The present invention is equally applicable to doors or other framed objects received into the exterior shell of a building.

Abstract: One or more ram accelerator devices may be used to form one or more holes in geologic or other material. These holes may be used for drilling, tunnel boring, excavation, and so forth. The ram accelerator includes one or more baffles that are downhole. The ram accelerator devices propel projectiles which are accelerated by combustion of one or more combustible gasses in a ram effect to reach velocities exceeding 500 meters per second. An endcap may be deployed within a tube of the ram accelerator device to prevent incursion of formation pressure products such as oil, water, mud, gas, and so forth into a guide tube of the ram accelerator. The endcap may be maintained in place within the hole at least in part by the one or more baffles. During operation the projectile penetrates the endcap and at least a portion thereof impact a working face.

Abstract: Steering assemblies including a housing having an actuator positioned therein and operable to rotate a drive shaft. A planetary gearbox is positioned in the housing and includes a ring gear operatively coupled to the housing, a sun gear coupled to the drive shaft, and a planet carrier. A mechanical coupling operatively couples the ring gear to the housing such that rotation of the housing rotates the ring gear. The mechanical coupling is selected based on an ability of one or more mechanical parameters of the mechanical coupling to mitigate the stick-slip disturbance transmitted between the housing and the ring gear. An offset mandrel coupled to one of the sun gear and the planet carrier such that rotation of the one of the sun gear and the planet carrier causes the offset mandrel to correspondingly rotate, wherein the offset mandrel is independently rotatable with respect to the housing.

Abstract: A stacked-plate system for a backreamer. The backreamer has a set of plates disposed about a central shaft for providing fluid for use in reaming operations. A distributor plate forms a cavity within a plate assembly for receiving fluid from the central shaft through radial fluid ports. Fluid from the cavity is then expelled through nozzles that overlay the cavity in a separate plate. The direction of fluid flow at the nozzles is axial, rather than toward the sidewall of the enlarged bore.
