Abstract: A method and apparatus for a connection manager have been disclosed. By providing for persistent connections with clients, the connection manager allows for servers to communicate with clients, which would otherwise be inaccessible.

Abstract: Methods for lower latency connections using speculative DNS resolution are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a request at a client for a web resource to be sent to a hostname. The method also includes obtaining a speculative Domain Name System (DNS) resolution of the hostname from a source local to the client. The method also includes initiating a connection to the hostname using the obtained speculative DNS resolution of the hostname. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A method of true push for internet protocol notification to a mobile communication device implemented by at least one server computer. The method comprises determining the size of physically addressable random access memory (RAM) and the number of central processing unit (CPU) cores of the server computer at boot time and setting the resource limit, rlimit, in the kernel of the server computer that comprises setting the limit for the total number of file handles in the entire system automatically based on the determined size of the random access memory and the determined number of the central processing unit cores at boot time. The requested web page includes multiple references to multiple images. The proxy server retrieves the requested web page. The proxy server modifies code of the retrieved web page such that the client network application will not, for each one of images, request that image until the location where that image is to be displayed is within a viewport of the client network application or within a defined distance from the viewport of the client network application. The proxy server transmits the modified web page to the client device.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide an approach for broker facilitated, publisher peer-to-peer (P2P) collaboration in a publish-subscription (pub/sub) environment. Specifically, in a typical embodiment, a broker system acts as an intermediary between publisher systems and subscriber systems in the pub/sub environment. Along these lines, the broker creates an administrative communication channel between known publisher systems and the broker system. Using this administrative communication channel, the broker system informs individual publisher systems about other publisher systems such that peer-to-peer communication channels between two or more publisher systems can be established. This can be accomplished using the broker system's knowledge of data being published by the individual publisher systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to several techniques for managing the contents of proxy tables in ways that optimize performance, latency, and reliability for communication networks, while ensuring a certain number of early-acting proxies per restricted device. An entity is allowed to keep a required number of proxies per resource-restricted device by removing or adding proxy table entries. Furthermore, the entity is allowed to keep track of early-acting proxies based on forwarding strategies, reporting strategies and/or polling strategies. Thereby, proxy table entries can be controlled to optimize overall system performance and reliability characteristics.

The first electronic apparatus has a first storage space. The server has a network storage space larger than the first storage space. When the first electronic apparatus sends an access request to the server for accessing a first file within the network storage space, the server broadcasts a cache list in response to the access request. The cache list includes the first file and a plurality of neighboring file neighboring to the first file. After receiving the cache list, the first electronic apparatus accesses the first file according to the cache list, and caches at least one of the neighboring files according to a first cache space size of the first storage space.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a LPC2468-based MVB-WTB gateway and associated operating methods in the field of train communications. The disclosed network gateway includes a MVB network card and a WTB network card. The WTB network card includes WTB-ARM and a WTB-FPGA module. The MVB network card includes MVB-ARM and MVB-FPGA module. The WTB-ARM module uses a LPC2468 processor to analyze data in the network layer and the data link layer based on gateway protocol. The WTB-FPGA module allows WTB to exchange data with other networks gateways, as well as between the WTB and MVB. The MVB-ARM module is responsible for executing protocols on the network cards. Via data communications on MVB, the MVB-FPGA module collects the process and message data of the MVB equipment, and exchange communication data between WTB within a network gateway. The present invention can increase speed and enhance reliability for communications between gateways.

The first web resource request includes a bucket cookie and a first web resource address for a first web resource. The bucket cookie includes at least one resource-related bucket cookie value. A second web resource request is generated. The second web resource request corresponds to at least a second web resource required to fulfill the first web resource request. The second web resource request is different from the first web resource request and includes a second web resource address corresponding to the second web resource and including the bucket cookie. The second web resource request is transmitted to a second web server.

Abstract: A content capability clearing house that can act as a trusted and neutral mediator among network providers to manage rich content capabilities among multiple networks is provided. Content capabilities that can be brokered include, but are not limited to, quality of service and content screening. In an embodiment, a content capability clearing house includes a receiver that receives content capability request messages and other messages from network providers. A content capability request message includes a quality of service request and/or a subscriber profile request for use with content screening and subscriber specific advertisements. The present invention includes a series of methods for determining content capabilities for data transmission over a transaction between a content provider and a subscriber in which a content capability clearing house is used to efficiently broker and manage the capability among multiple network providers.

Abstract: A cloud-compatible industrial device is provided. The industrial device generates or collects raw industrial data in connection with monitoring and/or controlling an automation system, and includes a cloud interface that couples the industrial device to one or more cloud-based services running on a cloud platform. To reduce consumption of cloud-based resources such as bandwidth and storage utilization, the industrial device can transform the raw industrial data into refined data that is amenable for cloud-based storage, computing, or analysis. Exemplary transformations include filtering, pruning, re-formatting, compressing, summarizing. In one or more embodiments, the industrial device can also add contextual metadata to the raw data prior to delivery to the cloud.

Abstract: Dual-homed forwarding techniques ensure that packets destined for a private network location are forwarded directly to the private network. Host devices adapted for dual-homed forwarding techniques may first search a forwarding table to identify an outgoing interface associated with a packet's destination address, and then search an egress table to identify an entry associated with the outgoing interface. The identified entry in the egress table indicates whether the outgoing interface is a remote interface, and if so, a dual-homing identifier associated with the outgoing interface. If so, the host device searches the forwarding table a second time to determine whether any local interfaces are associated with the dual-homing identifier. The packet is then forwarded either over the local outgoing interface associated with the dual-homing identifier or the originally identified outgoing interface.

The hands-free intercom may determine whether the user is communicatively coupled via a mobile device to a remote entity. The hands-free intercom may be configured to receive a handoff of the communicative coupling, for example, by acting as a peripheral of the mobile device, by requesting the handoff, and/or the like. The hands-free intercom may be configured to deliver communications from the user to an appliance and vice versa. The hands-free intercom may manage access rights of the various entities to prevent unauthorized communications.

The system uses the received downlink transmissions to reconstruct the bidirectional call content of calls conducted between wireless terminals. In order to reconstruct the bidirectional content of a given call, the system identifies and correlates the two downlink transmissions of that call from among the multiple received downlink transmissions.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for the automatic real-time recording and processing of media in a communications network based on the context of the media. In one embodiment, a media stream is received in an analysis module in a service platform in the communications network. The media stream may represent a communication session between a calling party and a call center in the network. The incoming media steam is analyzed to identify words comprising a context of the communication session. A determination is then made as to whether the context of the communication session is related to a set of business rules associated with the service platform which may automatically trigger the retention of a recording of the communication session. If the context of the communication session is related to the set of business rules, the retention of the communication session is automatically triggered in real-time at a recording module.

Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for abbreviated dialing in a femtocell network is provided. A user having authorized access to the femtocell network may dial another authorized user using an abbreviated code. On receipt of the call request, a femtocell system may evaluate the destination number to determine if it is an abbreviated code. If the dialed number is not an abbreviated code, the femtocell system may direct the call request to the telecommunication core network for processing thereby. If the dialed number is evaluated by the femtocell system as an abbreviated code, the femtocell system may direct the call request to an on-site PBX for call handling. If the abbreviated code is a valid code and the dialed user equipment is currently in the femtocell network service area, the PBX may then complete the call setup within the femtocell network.
