  • Patent number: 9565358
Abstract: Apparatus for scanning and recognizing characters comprises: an optical sensor for capturing images, which optical sensor carries out continuous shooting of the scanned characters to obtain an image frame sequence containing the scanned characters, and the content of an image frame partly overlaps content of the previous image frame in the sequence; and a control module for processing the images and recognizing the characters. The control module divides the image frames in the image frame sequence into groups of image frames including reference frames, skip frames and predictive frames according to the overlapping contents, and combines the standard frames and the predictive frames into a panorama image, taking a group of image frames as a unit, and carries out character recognition after performing skew correction based on the panorama image, to obtain the character codes of the scanned characters. The skip frames can be skipped directly, increasing the splicing speed.

  • Patent number: 9565363
Abstract: An example method for stabilizing images involves obtaining an image of an environment from a perspective of the robot. The method also involves receiving one or more depth measurements. The depth measurements correspond to locations within the image. The method further involves determining first boundaries around a particular location within a section of the image. The particular location is approximately centered within the first boundaries. Additionally, the method involves determining an extent of deviation of a particular position of the image capture device from a reference position. The particular position is a position of the image capture device at a point in time at which the image was captured. Further, the method involves determining second boundaries by shifting the first boundaries by an amount proportional to the determined extent of deviation. The method additionally involves providing, to a display device, a portion of the image defined by the second boundaries.

Abstract: Described are computer-based methods and apparatuses, including computer program products, for deterministically skewing transmission of content streams. A content stream comprising one or more video frames is received. The content stream is buffered in a buffer, wherein the buffer allows simultaneous read access to the content stream at a plurality of locations. One or more video frames of the content stream are transmitted from the buffer to a first device associated with a first subscriber beginning at a first location in the buffer based on a first transmission delay parameter. One or more video frames of the content stream are transmitted from the buffer to a second device associated with a second subscriber beginning at a second location in the buffer based on a second transmission delay parameter.

  • Patent number: 9565399
Abstract: In an oxygen saturation level measurement mode, a color image sensor images an internal body portion alternately irradiated with measurement light and normal light. A normal image is produced from image data obtained under irradiation with the normal light. An oxygen saturation level is calculated from image data obtained under irradiation with the measurement light. Based on the oxygen saturation level, a hyperoxic region and a hypoxic region are determined in the normal image. A color balance process and a color enhancement process are applied to the hyperoxic region to improve visibility of depressions and projections of internal body tissue and a blood vessel pattern. A gain process is applied to the hypoxic region to make distinct color variations according to the degree of the oxygen saturation level.

Abstract: A suitable imaging device for capturing images of an object or an area of interest may be automatically selected based on information regarding the locations and/or other operational properties of a plurality of imaging devices, and a location of the object or the area of interest. One or more geometric models of the fields of view of the imaging devices may be generated, and whether the object or the area of interest falls within one or more of the fields of view may be determined using such models. Where multiple imaging devices may include the object or the area of interest, within a field of view, the imaging device having the most suitable image, e.g., the largest or highest resolution image of the object or the area of interest, may be selected.

Abstract: Digital media files that are captured using one or more imaging devices and stored in one or more data stores may be compressed, modified or disposed of based on business value scores associated with such files. The business value scores may be generated on any available information that may be known or determined regarding the contents of such files, including records of activity occurring within a vicinity of the imaging devices, or data obtained through an analysis of such files. Moreover, the business value scores may be altered on any basis, including according to one or more functions, and the compression, modification or disposal of such files may be altered accordingly.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and methods of monitoring a child seated in the rear seat of a vehicle in a child's car seat employing a video camera which transmits a video signal to a video display receiver placed in the driver's frame of vision. The video camera as envisioned herein is placed within a child's stuffed toy, the camera signal being transmitted remotely to a separate video display monitor screen device, viewable to the parent driving the vehicle. The camera is adjustable in the number of positions in which it is placed in the vehicle compartment as well as the direction in which the camera is directed. To adjust the direction in which the camera is pointed, the invention includes a bendable, flexible and sturdy neck that interconnects the camera to a transmission unit, which provides the driver with a view of the child.

  • Patent number: 9565404
Abstract: Video encoders often produce banding artifacts on areas with smooth gradients and low levels of detail/noise. In this disclosure, a video encoding system identifies the banded areas and adjusts coding parameters accordingly. The video coder may include a pre-coding banding detector and a post-coding banding detector. The pre-coding detector may identify regions in the input picture with smooth gradients that are likely to have banding artifacts after encoding. The post-coding detector may identify regions in the reconstructed picture with visible banding. Usage of pre-coding detector and/or post-coding detector depends on how an encoder operates. In a single-pass encoding or during the first pass of a multi-pass encoding, the pre-coding detection maps are used. During picture re-encoding or during later passes of a multi-pass encoding, the post-coding detector maps are used.
