The method also includes the steps of directing the outlet of the nozzle towards the surface to be coated and spraying the aerosol onto the surface to be coated.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 12, 2015Publication date: February 16, 2017Applicants: UNIVERSITE PIERRE ET MARIE CURIE (PARIS 6), CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUEInventors: David Grosso, Benjamin Louis

Publication number: 20170043373Abstract: Presented herein are articles and methods featuring substrates with thin, uniform polymeric films grafted (e.g., covalently bonded) thereupon. The resulting coating provides significant reductions in thermal resistance, drop shedding size, and degradation rate during dropwise condensation of steam compared to existing coatings. Surfaces that promote dropwise shedding of low-surface tension condensates, such as liquid hydrocarbons, are also demonstrated herein.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2015Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: Adam T. Publication number: 20170043376Abstract: A planar screen cloth for use in a screening device for screening out oversize objects in a material flowing in a direction includes a metal plate substructure having a perimeter and a plurality of longitudinal ligaments and transverse ligaments, forming a grid. A wear-resistant layer is applied to the entire screen cloth. Each transverse ligament comprises a leading edge and a trailing edge; and is angled such that the leading edge is disposed below the trailing edge. The transverse element thus is angled to face the direction of material flow.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 12, 2016Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: YEU (JOHN) TIEU, KHALED OBAIA, DANIEL MACNEIL, DAMIEN REID

Publication number: 20170043377Abstract: A water exchange device for a birdbath comprises a stanchion and a head. A first passageway extends entirely through the length of the stanchion body from an upper end to a lower end. Also, at least one stanchion duct extends from the first passageway exiting the stanchion body at a stanchion duct aperture. The head is fixedly secured to the stanchion body so as to be positioned spaced from, and not covering the stanchion duct aperture(s). A second passageway extends from a base of the head into the head body forming a through connection with the first passageway. Publication number: 20170043378Abstract: A cleaned component having a polycrystalline structure, a method and apparatus for cleaning a leached component to form the cleaned component, and a method for determining the effectiveness of cleaning the leached component. The cleaned component includes a leached layer that has at least a portion of by-product materials removed. The by-product materials were deposited into the leached layer during a leaching process that formed the leached layer. The apparatus and method for cleaning includes a tank, a cleaning fluid placed within the tank, and at least a portion of the leached layer immersed into the cleaning fluid. Optionally, a transducer emits ultrasonic waves into the leached layer. The method for determining the effectiveness of cleaning includes cleaning the leached component to form the cleaned component, measuring one or more capacitance values of the cleaned component, repeating the cleaning and the measuring until achieving a stable lower limit capacitance value.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2015Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: Federico Bellin, Vamsee Chintamaneni
