Abstract: A method of controlling a transmission includes detecting a first inflection point and a second inflection point in the movement of the accelerator pedal. An amplitude between the first inflection point and the second inflection point is then calculated, and a period of time between the first inflection point and the second inflection point is measured. An attenuation coefficient is defined from the amplitude and the measured period of time between the first and second inflection points. A current iteration temporary gear ratio is defined as the gear ratio calculated during the most recent iteration of an iterative gear ratio selection algorithm, and is adjusted with the defined attenuation coefficient to define a current iteration final output gear ratio. The operation of the transmission is then controlled to change the transmission from a previous iteration final output gear ratio to the current iteration final output gear ratio.

Abstract: To prevent nuisance marine growth in a valve, particularly a ball valve, used to regulate a flow of seawater, a compound for lubricating and preventing nuisance marine growth is provided in the valve. The nuisance marine growth preventing compound includes a substantially uniform mixture of marine grease and an antifouling agent. The compound is introduced into the valve such that the compound is provided between and contacts a valve body and a ball that regulates the flow of seawater within the valve, and inhibits nuisance marine growth at a space between the ball and the valve body which is occupied by the compound.

Abstract: A pressure control device is provided for use with a storage container. The pressure control device includes a base defined by a sidewall and a flange extending outwardly from the sidewall, the flange adapted to be connected to a surface of the storage container, the base including a port defined by the sidewall and adapted to be in fluid communication with an interior of the storage container. The pressure control device includes a lid movably coupled to the base to selectively expose the port of the base to an environment surrounding the pressure control device, and a plurality of blind holes formed in a bottom side of the flange of the base. The plurality of blind holes are configured to facilitate connection of the pressure control device to the storage container while preventing leakage from the storage container through the connection, thereby reducing fugitive emissions.

Abstract: Provided is a pressure balance type electromagnetic control valve in which an electromagnetic force of an electromagnetically-driving part is balanced against a spring force of an adjusting spring, and an influence of a pressure difference applied to a valve body between the pressure of a first port and a pressure of a second port is cancelled so that an opening degree of the valve body is proportionally changed. An opening degree is accurately controlled by shortening a length of a valve housing and removing an influence of the dynamic pressure of a fluid of the second port with respect to a plunger of the electromagnetically-driving part. The electromagnetically-driving part, an adjusting spring, a pressure equalizing chamber, and a diaphragm are provided on the opposite side of the valve port with respect to the valve body on an axis line of a valve port.
