Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a parallel cylinder-type check valve and, more particularly, to a parallel cylinder-type check valve in which two shock-absorbing dampers are connected in parallel to each other so as to absorb shock when a valve is closed, wherein the length of a rocker arm connected to any one shock-absorbing damper is adjusted to be longer according to the principle of a lever in order to provide a sufficient shock-absorbing effect. Also, the present invention relates to a parallel cylinder-type check valve, which is rapidly closed at a high speed at the time of the initial closing of the valve and is slowly closed at a low speed at the later closing of the valve by means of the parallel cylinder, thereby preventing noise and vibration, as well as preventing water hammer.

  • Publication number: 20170074424
Abstract: A method of handling a discrete elongate subsea element of determinate length, such as a spool of rigid pipe is disclosed. The method includes shortening a tensile chord system acting on longitudinally-spaced locations on the element to apply longitudinally-compressive forces to the element. The compressive forces bend the element along its length against elastic recovery force to shorten the span of the element. One end of the element is anchored at a first anchorage before or after the element is bent. The other end of the element is anchored at a second anchorage, after the element is bent and while the element remains bent. The method is apt to be used during installation of the element, where the anchorages are both underwater, and during transportation of the element, where the anchorages are hang-off platforms of a surface vessel.

Abstract: A pipe coupling apparatus adapted to allow for the connection of older, common sewer or drain pipe made of concrete, clay or the like to that of the newer style polymers such as ABS, CPCV, PVC and the like. It accomplishes this through a novel connection method that eliminates having to cut off the bell end of the older sewer or drain pipe and provides for a method of stabilizing the alignment of the two connected pipes. The apparatus incorporates a pipe coupling and a flexible polymer transition sleeve, and depending on the dimensions of the pipes involved, may require an optional spacer seal ring. The assembly time is greatly reduced over the prior art methodologies and the coupled pipes are less likely to leak. It is available in both eccentric and concentric configurations.

Although hydrogen can be commercially produced from various hydrocarbon feedstocks, the remaining limitation to wide-scale deployment is the lack of a hydrogen fuel distribution infrastructure to replace petroleum. By producing hydrogen on the site of the vehicle refueling station, the need for a new distribution infra structure is eliminated.

Abstract: Provided is a gas filling method capable of accurately determining the initial pressure in a tank while minimizing increase in temperature and pressure regardless of the capacity of the tank. The gas filling method for connecting a supply source to a tank via a piping, and filling the tank with the gas, the method includes: an initial-filling initiation step of opening a flow control valve provided in the piping to start initial filling; a pressure-variation acquisition step of obtaining a pressure variation per unit time at a predetermined detection point downstream of the flow control valve in the piping; an initial-pressure detection step of obtaining a pressure at the detection point at a time specified using the pressure variation, and considering that pressure as the initial pressure in the tank; and a main-filling initiation step of starting main filling using the initial pressure.

Abstract: A reservoir for one or more chemical reactants has means for heating the reactants and optional means for stirring the reactants. A pumped reactant feed line and a return line provide fluid communication between the reservoir and a 4-way valve system. The 4-way valve system is also in fluid communication with a reactor vessel and a source of inert gas for purging the system. In a first state, the 4-way valve provides fluid communication between the reservoir and the reactor. In a second state, the 4-way valve provides a continuous circulation path for the heated reactants from the reservoir, to the valve system, and back to the reservoir via the return line. In a third state, the 4-way valve provides a fluid pathway for purging the reactor with inert gas. In a fourth state, the 4-way valve provides a fluid pathway for purging the reservoir with inert gas.
