Abstract: A wellhead assembly includes an outer wellhead member having a bore and an inner wellhead member located in the bore, defining an annular pocket between the outer and inner wellhead members. A sealing assembly is located within the annular pocket, the sealing assembly having an annular seal and an energizing ring. The energizing ring engages inner and outer legs of the annular seal to push the inner and outer legs into sealing engagement with the inner and outer wellhead members. A retainer nut is threadingly attached to the free end of the outer leg of the sealing assembly. Mating grooves are located on one of an inner diameter of the retainer nut and an outer diameter of the energizing ring and mating protrusions located on the other. Abstract: A stackable support system and method are disclosed to increase the final contact area of an expanding lock component by stacking one ring on top of another such that one ring acts as an actuator for the one beneath it. As a body lands inside a receptacle, e.g. a narrow cylinder lands inside a larger cylinder, the components or rings expand in a domino effect, resulting in a greater contact between the body and receptacle than would occur if there was only one component or ring. The stackable support system includes a number of expandable lock rings which stack on top of each other. These rings, when expanded, steadily increase in diameter, resulting in an overall larger surface on the bottom of the support system than could have been achieved with one ring.

In an illustrated embodiment thereof, the annular seat structure is movable between a retracted position having a first interior diameter, and a resiliently expanded position having a second, larger interior diameter. The seat structure has an annular array of rigid ring segments interdigitated with annular gaps that receive radially outwardly projecting portions of an annular resilient liner secured to radially inner surfaces of the rigid ring segments, the outwardly projecting liner portions being secured to circumferentially facing surfaces of the rigid ring segments. An annular spring member coaxially circumscribes the rigid ring segment array, is received in notches formed in the rigid segments, and resiliently biases the seat structure toward its retracted position.

  • Publication number: 20170122063
Abstract: A retrievable compression set packer is sequentially released. First the sealing element is allowed to relax. Then the upper slip has wedging action that forces it against a surrounding tubular relaxed. After that the upper slips are pulled up to retract them fully allowing the packer to come out. These sequential actions are done with a mandrel movement in one direction. The sealing element is released with undermining a collet by aligning collet heads with a recess on the mandrel. The slip force release happens with mandrel movement forcing a ring into a wedge such that circumferential force on slip segments is reduced or eliminated when the wedge is pushed out of its conforming slot allowing for circumferential flexibility of the slip seat. The mandrel then picks up a slip ring that retracts the slip segments on the slip seat and the packer is removed.

Stimulation is performed in a hydrocarbon well and various data is obtained therefrom. The data is used to develop a simulation of fluid flow in the well and the simulation is used to model a synthetic tracer log, which corresponds to a modeled level of efficiency. Numerous synthetic tracer logs may be generated in this way so that tracer logs are available for a variety of different stimulation efficiencies. In order to determine the efficiency of an actual stimulation, the real tracer log of the stimulated well may be compared to the synthetic tracer logs in search of a match. When the real tracer log matches a synthetic tracer log the modeled efficiency of the synthetic log may be used as the actual or true efficiency of the real well stimulation.

Abstract: The devised modular of ‘Subsea Level Gas Separator of Oil Well Effluent (SLGOE) precludes giant gas entrainment entering the rig. The effluent, past the BOP, is diverted by gravity through a ‘diversion’ tube, into the bottom of 1-3 ‘gas separator’ tanks, creating fountain-like flow. The downstream, syphoned from an ‘oil passage tank’, joins the partitioned collection system past the ‘diversion’ tube. The large top outlets of ‘all’ tanks let off ‘instantly’ rising gases. In another embodiment of two ‘gas separator’ tanks, oil flows from the top of the first. Its bottom outlet directs it into the top of the second. From it, oil is siphoned to the collection system. The large top outlets of both tanks instantly let off gases. In either device, the gas ‘instantly’ separates from the effluent tossed into aerial milieu of the tanks, a simplest model conceivable, the laws of nature taken advantage of.

Abstract: A drilling management system can monitor the traversed path of a drill bit throughout active drilling at a drilling site and notify appropriate team members regarding a current status of the active drilling in real-time. For example, the drilling management system can notify team members when predetermined milestones have been met, when the drill bit is drifting off course from a target wellbore trajectory from a target horizon or target zone, or when the drill bit is in danger of running into a geo-hazard, such as a pre-existing wellbore, unpierced fault plane, lease boundary, etc. The drilling management system can maintain a depth model of the drilling site that identifies the target wellbore trajectory, a target zone based on one or more horizons from the depth model, and coordinates of known geo-hazards at the drilling sites. The drilling management system can also maintain a set of rules for each of the drilling sites that indicates when team members should be notified.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and devices for increasing well and oil field productivity. The method comprises positioning an acoustic device in a well located within the geological formation and performing an acoustic treatment impacting a muddled zone in cycles comprising one or more manipulated waves of ultrasonic pressure on the muddied zone. The cycles comprise a Fourier transformation of a periodic function. The transformation determines a rate at which an acoustic treatment pressure of each cycle rises from zero to a maximum value. This rate is directly proportional to a force of an impact on the formation, and the greater the rate, the greater the impact. The acoustic treatment can further be detected by placing emitters and receivers in surrounding wells and calculating the signal received to determine if wells are hydrodynamically connected, such that a synergistic effect may be achieved through simultaneous treatment at several well locations.

The monitoring device may receive data associated with the well and determine whether the flow of hydrocarbons includes a percentage of water greater than a threshold based on whether the data is outside a profile associated with the flow of hydrocarbons at the well over time.
