Abstract: An internal combustion engine heat energy recovery system (1) comprises a first heat exchanger (20) arranged in heat communication with at least one heat energy source of an internal combustion engine (10) and with a working fluid of the system (1) for the transfer of heat energy from the heat energy source to the working fluid of the system (1). A turbine (30) is arranged in fluid communication with the working fluid heated in the first heat exchanger (20) for the expansion of the working fluid to produce shaft power. A second heat exchanger (40) is arranged in heat communication with the expanded working fluid to remove waste heat therefrom and transfer it to an external source such as the atmosphere. A first compressor (50) is arranged in fluid communication with the working fluid exiting the heat exchanger for increasing the pressure of the cooled working fluid prior to its entry into the first heat exchanger (20). The working fluid of the system is a substantially supercritical fluid.

A combustion state determination circuit determines a combustion state by comparing a combustion pressure P detected by a combustion state detector. When the combustion pressure P is smaller than a second threshold Pth2, and there is room for improving the combustion state with respect to the present energy input condition, the energy input period IGW is increased or a target secondary current I2* is increased. By compensating the condition of the energy input control in accordance with the combustion state, a target combustion state can be achieved with just enough energy consumption.

The second wind turbine can produce a rotative force to the first wind turbine. At wind speeds below that required to operate the first turbine, the second turbine may be operable and provide power to rotate the first turbine.

Abstract: The present subject matter is directed to a method for managing and/or categorizing trip faults of an electrical component, such as power converter, of a wind turbine. The method includes receiving, via a local controller of the wind turbine, an indication of at least one trip fault in the electrical component of the wind turbine. The method also includes determining, via the local controller, a unique identifier for the trip fault. More specifically, the unique identifier contains information regarding a type of the trip fault and at least one of an origin or a cause, of the trip fault. Further, the method includes sending, via the local controller, the unique identifier to a supervisory controller of the wind turbine. Thus, the method also includes implementing, via the supervisory controller, a control action based on the unique identifier.

Abstract: The application relates to wind turbine tower section production methods and in particular to methods of manufacturing a plurality of elongate tower segments for forming a wind turbine tower section, the tower section constructed from a plurality of elongate tower segments connected along their respective longitudinal edges. The tower section is formed from a plurality of cans connected end to end and is divided into elongate segments by cutting along two or more cut lines extending along the length of the tower. A method of providing a horizontal flange at the end of a wind turbine tower is also discussed, as is a vertical flange preassembly including a pair of vertical flanges for connecting the longitudinal edges of adjacent first and second tower segments.

In particular, a method for performing up-tower maintenance on a gearbox of a wind turbine is disclosed. The gearbox has at least one bearing with an outer race and an inner race that rotates with respect to the outer race. The method includes forming a through-hole in a front cover of the gearbox, the front cover being stationary with respect to an axis of rotation of the bearing. The method also includes forming a recess in the outer race of the bearing. Further, the method includes inserting a connecting member through the through-hole and the recess so as to prevent movement of the outer race of the bearing with respect to a torque arm of the gearbox.
