  • Patent number: 9642734
Abstract: An implant includes a collapsible anchor to be deployed within a lumen and a protrusion coupled to the anchor. The protrusion, in a constrained state, extends a distance from an exterior surface of the anchor and, in an unconstrained state, extends further from the exterior surface of the anchor. Also included is a biodegradable constraint, such as a biodegradable tube or suture, configured to maintain the protrusion in the constrained state until the constraint releases. The implant may include additional biodegradable constraints, each constraint configured to maintain the protrusion in a different constrained state and to degrade over a different predetermined period after the implant has been deployed within the lumen. The protrusion may include a bi-directional barb or an open loop. The protrusion may be configured to penetrate a wall of the lumen and to allow tissue to grow about the protrusion.

  • Patent number: 9642735
Abstract: Pyloric valve corking devices are disclosed herein that generally include an occluding member, expanding from a first configuration to a larger second configuration, and a bridging member extending from the occluding member. The bridging member has a length that is adapted to pass at least partially through the gastric opening, so to enable the occluding member to obstruct the gastric opening, and that is also adapted to permit the occluding member to intermittently move relative to the gastric opening. A second occluding member may be attached to the distal end of the bridging member. The reduction in flow of gastric contents into the duodenum can be actively regulated using a pump or valve, or can be passively regulated with movements of the occluding device.

  • Patent number: 9642742
Abstract: A handheld applicator designed to transfer a liquid drop of ophthalmic medicament into a human eye. The basic structure comprises a finger grip section and a drop retainer section, preferably connected to the grip section with an extension. The device is made from an elastomeric material that will allow for the safe transfer of a liquid drop into the eye. A drop dispensed from a container is placed onto the drop retainer section of the device where the surface tension provides drop adhesion. The user may administer the drop, without having to tilt the head, while maintaining an eyeglass assisted view into a mirror. Application of the drop occurs from the peripheral line of vision. When contact is made to the eye, surface tension is relieved and the drop safely transfers into the eye. The same applicator may have a drop retainer section with a different structure on each side.

  • Patent number: 9642777
Abstract: Detection of fluid conditions in an administration set. A light source is positioned to transmit an infrared light through administration set tubing and any fluid therein. A light sensor senses the infrared light transmitted through the tubing and generates an output signal. A frequency of the output signal is a function of an intensity of the light transmitted through the tubing. A processor receives and determines the frequency of the output signal, and compares the determined frequency to threshold frequency values to determine whether fluid is in the tubing. The processor also monitors the generated output signal to determine if the frequency of the output signal changes over time, and determines whether fluid is flowing in the tubing as a function of the determined change in frequency.

  • Patent number: 9642780
Abstract: The present invention relates to a kit of parts for detection and removal of carious dentin tissue comprising: (i) one or more compounds being a hydrazine derivative, and (ii) means for chemical treatment of carious dentin tissue. Further, the invention concerns a preparation containing an active, caries-dissolving two-component liquid in the form of a first active, caries-dissolving component and a second component which reduces the aggressiveness of the active component to mucous membranes, a viscosity increasing substance and one or more compounds being a hydrazine derivative. The hydrazine derivative labels carious dentin tissue selectively and substantially irreversibly in the presence of healthy dentin tissue, which is useful in the context of caries removal.
