Abstract: The invention is a motorized gearbox assembly. The motorized gearbox assembly includes a motor that drives an output shaft. The output shaft actuates a window covering by applying torque to a tilt rod of the window covering. The output shaft extends substantially an entire length of the motorized gearbox assembly. It also has a through-channel that extends substantially an entire length of the output shaft, so that the tilt rod can pass entirely through the motorized gearbox assembly. Because of this, the motorized gearbox assembly can be used for retrofitting blinds. In some embodiments, the motorized gearbox assembly has a diametrically polarized magnet driven by the output shaft, and a position encoder that measures the output shaft's position and number of rotations.

  • Publication number: 20170145752
Abstract: The problem of removing a plug from a hollow stem auger (HSA) opening after drilling a subsurface hole is solved by a knock-out plug having sections held together by a hinge along the top side. The knock-out plug can bend or fold along a crease in the bottom side when force is applied to the top side, or hinge side, of the plug. Conversely, force applied to the bottom side and peripheral wall of the knock-out plug tends to hold the sections together. When placed into the opening in an HSA, the edge of the opening and force of the soil against the bottom side during drilling keeps the plug in place and the sections intact. When desired, the knock-out plug can be hit or pounded on the top side, through the HSA channel which causes the plug to fold or bend and be released easily from the opening.

Abstract: A system for sealing an expandable tubular connection (2, 20) in a wellbore comprises an annular resilient seal (32, 34) arranged in an annular groove (90) defining a section (82) of reduced wall thickness of an inner tubular element (20), which section (82) is subject to surplus expansion induced by an expansion cone such that, in the expanded state of the inner tubular element (20), the annular groove (90) has a wave-shaped profile thereby compressing the annular seal (32, 34) against an outer tubular element (2).

Abstract: An apparatus installs downhole in a surrounding tubular. A first shoulder on a mandrel of the apparatus is movable toward a second shoulder. A plurality of stacked rings are disposed about the mandrel and are spaced between the first and second shoulders. A first of the stacked rings decreases in spacing in response to the movement of the first shoulder toward the second shoulder, and a second of the stacked rings expands outward from the mandrel in response to the decrease in spacing. A slip disposed on the stacked rings is movable away from the mandrel toward the surrounding tubular in response to the outward expansion. The apparatus can be a plug, a bridge plug, a fracture plug, a packer, a permanent packer, a retrievable packer, a sump packer, and a sealbore packer. Additionally, the apparatus can include a completion assembly with packer and screen supported on the mandrel.

Abstract: A downhole tool (10) configured to condition a borehole (B) and deliver a settable material, such as cement slurry, into a borehole annulus (A) for securing and supporting a casing string (C) in the borehole (B) comprises a body in the form of tubular housing (12), a shaft (14) rotatably mounted within the housing (12), a head portion (22) and a drive arrangement (20). In use, borehole cleaning and cementing operations may be carried out by directing a drive fluid, such as drilling mud, through the drive arrangement (20) to drive rotation of the head portion (22) to clean or condition the borehole (b). A cement slurry or the like, may then be directed through the casing string (C) or via a cementing string (S) into the shaft (14), and through the drive arrangement (20), the fluid then being ejected from the head portion (22).

Abstract: There is provided a system and method for using a thermal insulating paint in a subsea environment. In accordance with one embodiment of the present technique, the thermal insulating paint may be applied to a casing for use in a subsea mineral extraction system. In another embodiment, a surface-rated thermal insulating paint may be applied to any component for use in a subsea mineral extraction system. The insulated component may be protected from the subsea environment to prevent damage to the surface-rated thermal insulating paint. For example, protecting the component may include burying it in cement or concrete, encasing it in another subsea structure or enclosure, or applying a protective sealant over the surface-rated thermal insulating paint.

The upper housing includes an internal bore extending from a fluid inlet to an opening on a bottom surface of the upper housing. The lower housing includes a central bore. A pressure sleeve is disposed within the internal bore of the upper housing and within the central bore of the lower housing. A locking nut operatively engages the pressure sleeve and is configured to engage a swivel stem so that rotation of the swivel stem rotates the pressure sleeve. A packing assembly positioned in the internal bore of the upper housing fluidly seals between a wall of the internal bore and an outer surface of the pressure sleeve to direct a fluid flow from the internal bore of the upper housing through a fluid inlet and an internal bore of the pressure sleeve.
