  • Publication number: 20170173367
Abstract: Radiotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for cancer and its success depends critically on accurate targeting and delivery of the correct radiation dose. Accurate dosimetry is therefore essential to maintain and improve patient survival rates. However, size and long wait times currently limit water and graphite based calorimeters to standards laboratories leaving field-based dosimetry to ionization chamber measurements which depend upon a reference field-specified calibration factor. It would therefore be beneficial to provide radiotherapy equipment operators a direct approach of clinical reference dosimetry wherein the dosimeter provides increased independence on dose, dose rate, radiation energy, and energy type, etc. It would be further beneficial for such novel clinical dosimeters to be compact, function as secondary standards used routinely for measurements and allow radiotherapy doses to be measured directly and in an absolute manner.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device which detects repetitive movement of a user's body part. The device has a sensor which detects G forces along at least two axes when the user repeatedly moves the body part; a memory, which stores reference data corresponding to ideal reference data; a processor/computing unit, which communicates with the sensor and the memory, and receives data associated with the G forces. The processing/computing unit compares the ideal reference data with the data associated with the detected G forces. A feedback component is connected to the processor/computing unit to provide the user with a signal when a target has been achieved. Also disclosed is a method of computing data received by the device and an exerciser device that simulates the movement of a hula hoop.

Abstract: A sports training aid is configured to help improve a player's skills in the game of lacrosse. The sports training aid can embody a lacrosse stick with a head and shaft. In one implementation, the lacrosse stick includes one or more sensors that change state. A controller couples with the sensors to administer one or more training modes. Each training mode can cause the controller to associate the change in state of the sensors in response to movement of the head.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for a sensor network for trick classification are described herein. A first data stream may be received from a first sensor array affixed to a first free-moving body of a sporting device. A second data stream may be received from a second sensor array affixed to a second free-moving body of the sporting device. A trick region of a predetermined length of the first data stream corresponding with an occurrence of a trick may be determined using data from the first data stream. The trick may be classified using a first set of data from the first data stream corresponding with the trick region and a second set of data from the second data stream.

Abstract: An exercise feedback system calibrates sensors of an athletic garment worn by an athlete while performing exercises. The sensors can record physiological data such as muscle activation. The system instructs the athlete to perform a calibration workout. The system generates a calibration value based on physiological data from the calibration workout and/or user information. The calibration value indicates, for example, the predicted maximum amplitude for the muscle activation of a particular muscle group (for example, glutes, hamstrings, or quadriceps) of the athlete. The system can update the calibration value over time as the system receives additional physiological data from subsequent exercises performed by the athlete. The system may determine a confidence level of the calibration value and may update the calibration value if the confidence level becomes too low. The system provides biofeedback to the athlete generated based on the calibration value.

Abstract: A universal athleticism rating system and related athletic performance measuring systems for accurately detecting and recording athletic performance are disclosed. The athleticism rating system evaluates individual athletes against a common, standardized, set of athletic performance tests. Each athlete performs the athletic tests and his or her scores in the individual tests are entered into a standardized calculation to produce a single athletic performance score. The related performance measuring system is preferably a timing system that ensures quick, easy, and accurate collection of athletic event timing related data without the need for the athlete to wear any special detection devices or the like. In a preferred embodiment, the performance measuring system integrates with the rating system to provide seamless athletic data collection and rating of athletes.
