Publication number: 20170209177Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a fracture fixation device and method for treatment of a bone fracture. The fracture fixation device includes a main body having a recess formed therein, and a compression element is configured to be received in the recess. The compression element has a passage dimensioned to receive a fracture fixation pin. A compressive force is generated across the bone fracture upon the compression element receiving the fracture fixation pin to promote healing of the bone fracture. The fracture fixation device is an external fixator that provides adjustable aspects of compression, rotation, and length in a simple design that facilitates bone healing by compression.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2015Publication date: July 27, 2017Applicant: THE GENERAL HOSPITAL CORPORATIONInventors: Amir Kachooei, Ali Moradi

Publication number: 20170209178Abstract: Spine stabilization systems are disclosed. One spine stabilization system includes a bone screw assembly including a coupling member and a screw member received therein. The coupling member includes a pair of extension elements that form a pair of slots. The slots include bottom angled surfaces. An angled wedge member having a substantially horizontal bottom surface and an angled top surface is delivered on top of the screw member within the coupling member. A rod member can be delivered down the coupling member such that it rests on the slots and on top of the angled wedge member. A locking assembly comprising a cap member and set screw can be delivered down the coupling member to secure the rod member to the coupling member. The rod member and locking assembly components can be delivered through a single incision and at a same or similar angle as the screw member during surgery.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2016Publication date: July 27, 2017Inventors: Douglas Cahill, Andrew Iott, Khiem Pham, Edward Karpowicz

Publication number: 20170209179Abstract: The present teachings provide one or more surgical implements for repairing damaged tissue, such as through a fixation procedure. A system for a percutaneous procedure is provided. The system can include a bone fastener including a receiver. The system can include a device having a first end, a second end and a middle portion. The first end, middle portion and second end can be disposed along a longitudinal axis, and the second end can be connected to the receiver. The middle portion can have a pair of deformable leg members extending between the first and second ends. The leg members can define a channel having a width. The leg members can be selectively movable between a retracted state and an expanded state with the width of the channel greater in the expanded state than in the retracted stare.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2017Publication date: July 27, 2017Inventors: Rui J.
