Abstract: A valve arrangement controls a flow of damping medium in a shock absorber. A radial column is provided with an axial failsafe flow such that the fail safe flow is not dependent on the exact axial position of the control valve member for creating the fail safe restriction, and less turbulence arise affecting the axial position of the control valve member. Thereby a valve arrangement is provided which has a more stable and reliable failsafe operation, resulting in a more dependable valve arrangement.

Abstract: A method for operating a controllable shock absorber may involve damping movement of a valve body by loading the valve body with a back pressure on an outflow side. Further, the controllable shock absorber may include a cylinder tube, a piston within the cylinder tube that divides the cylinder tube into two working spaces and includes a couple fluid leadthroughs connecting the working spaces, and first and second valve assemblies for damping piston movement in first and second actuating directions that are disposed on the leadthroughs. Each valve assembly may have a pilot control chamber and a valve plate that is either seated on or spaced apart from a valve seat in closed and open valve positions. Each valve plate can be prestressed closed by pressure loading the pilot control chamber. The pressures of the pilot control chambers can be set by a pilot control valve that comprises a movable valve body. As a result, an outflow cross section between the pilot control chambers and the working spaces can be set.

Abstract: This mechanism for driving motions of a surface of spherical, ellipsoidal, plane, or other shape comprises a pair of drive wheels mounted on a freely pivoting frame, each wheel being driven by its own bidirectional motor. The motors and the active electronics of an angle encoder are mounted in an associated fixed frame, so no slip rings or other rotating connections are needed for motor power and control, or for determining the rotation angle of the pivoting frame. Control of the motors provides differential rotation of the two wheels to effect controlled rotation of the pivoting frame, and therefore of wheel direction. This avoids the use of a separate motor for changing the direction of motion of the surface.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a self-locking non-backdrivable gear system. The gear system may comprise a primary motor input and self-lubricating gear box. The primary motor input is for rotation of the gearbox about the axis of a drive shaft. The gearbox may comprise an input ring gear, one or more planet locking gears, fixed spur gear, and output spur gear. In operation, rotation of the primary motor input causes rotation of the ring gear which causes rotation of the planet locking gear which causes rotation of the output spur gear which causes rotation of the drive shaft. However, in the absence of rotation of the ring gear, a rotational force applied to the output spur gear causes the gear teeth on the fixed and output spur gears to lock the planet gear in place.

Abstract: This invention is a technological motor that increases, in each its period, the pressure of the gas that it compresses within the pressure volumes (BH) with the principle of communicating vessels, through the feature action—reaction of the mechanical system upon the acceleration of this system whose engine housing (MK) is the compressed gas tank. And this mechanic system is a motor which converts the potential energy in the compressed gases into kinetic energy without subjecting to chemical reaction. During these operations, the volume of the compressed gas in the engine housing (MK) does not change and it is not related to the mass volume of this motor, which is in direct proportion to the compressed gas pressure of the energy it produces. Abstract: A mechanism for coupling motion of a piezoelectric actuator in axisymmetric devices like modulating proportional valves uses actuator extension motion to cause translation away from a mechanism mounting plane and thereby enables lifting open of a valve element instead of the usual pushing closed of the valve element. The mechanism does not contain any gears nor leadscrew threads, and in usual practice is constantly loaded, so apparent change of direction is achieved without mechanical backlash introducing hysteresis. The mechanism surrounds a piezoelectric stack actuator by contacting opposite ends of the piezoelectric stack, whereby extension motion lengthening the actuator causes a lifting portion of the mechanism to translate toward the bulk of the actuator while the proximally adjacent mounting portion of the mechanism remains at a fixed. location.
