Abstract: A blasting system with automated detonator logging eliminates on-the-field manual logging of each detonator. Detonators are connected in sequence in an auto-logging circuit, and the blast machine initiates a logging operation in which each detonator receives and confirms an assigned sequence number along with assigned delay data. Elimination of manual logging by individuals increases safety in the blast zone and facilitates the blasting operation. The operation is simplified, likelihood of human error is reduced, and the cost of a separate logger device is eliminated. An auto-logging protocol may be incorporated into the control module of the electronic detonator. Alternately, an auto-logging module may be connected externally to each detonator similar to the conventional surface plus down-the-hole delay systems. The inventive system may include an IDC connector that facilitates the serial connection of the detonators for the logging circuit while allowing parallel connections of the blast control circuit.

According to the present invention, polycrystalline silicon having a maximum surface roughness (Peak-to-Valley) value Rpv of 5000 nm or less, an arithmetic average roughness value Ra of 600 nm or less and a root mean square roughness value Rq of 600 nm or less, the surface roughness values being measured by observing with an atomic force microscope (AFM) the surface of a collected plate-shaped sample, is selected as a raw material for producing single crystal silicon.

Abstract: A combination tool includes a surveyor's rod having a tubular body and a hammer that is slidable within the tubular body using an external handle. The tubular body defines an opening to insert a nail to be hammered into a surface below the tubular body. A nail-loading device may be affixed adjacent to the tubular body. The nail-loading device has a tube for receiving a nail and a lever arm that can be pivoted away from the tube to receive a nail and then pivoted back to its resting position to force the nail into the tubular body through the opening in the tubular body. A hammer-stop may be affixed to the tubular body to form a physical stop to the downward movement of the hammer. A handle lock may be employed along with a rod-tip point.

Each drive mass is adjacent to two other drive masses and opposite the fourth drive mass, and each sense mass is adjacent to two other sense masses and opposite the fourth sense mass. Each drive mass may oscillate in a manner that is perpendicular to its adjacent drive mass and parallel and anti-phase to its opposite mass. The sense motion of the each sense mass may be coupled in a manner that prevents motion due to linear acceleration or angular acceleration.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for altering the nature of a magnetic field at a location is presented, consisting of a placement of one or more static magnets, electromagnets or other magnetic field altering apparatus at strategic positions, in order to ensure that no two paths through the location present the same fluctuations and patterns in magnetic field intensity and heading. In a further embodiment a magnetic field in a location is modulated in a predetermined manner through the use of one or more electromagnets supplied with an equivalent modulated current or voltage. This prevents identical magnetic field patterns and provides a magnetic field measuring device with the possibility of determining an approximate location while stationary, and detecting whether materials capable of altering the magnetic field of the location have been added or removed from the location since magnetic mapping was conducted.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for real-time positioning of a smart device, comprising: getting tri-axial acceleration sequences truncated in turn by using a preset time period in the world coordinate individually; acquiring a dominate frequency fstep by applying fast Fourier transform (FFT) on the truncated Z-axis acceleration sequence, using a band-pass filter with a pass band [fstep?0.5 Hz, fstep+0.5 Hz] to filter the truncated tri axial acceleration sequences individually; comparing the time domain waveform form from the filtered Z-axis acceleration sequence with a preset step threshold, and counting each peak above the threshold as a step to acquire a user's step number in the present time period; determining the moving direction of the smart device in the time period by calculating the filtered X-axis and Y-axis acceleration sequences; determining the current position of the smart device by calculating the user's step number and the moving direction of the smart device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for driver and vehicle tracking in accordance with embodiments of the invention are disclosed. In one embodiment, a location tracking system obtains vehicle location data, where the vehicle location data includes a set of vehicle location data points, obtains driver location data, where the driver location data includes a set of driver location data points, obtains vehicle driver pairing data, where the vehicle driver pairing data describes a set of pairings between the vehicle location device and at least one driver location device and a timestamp, correlates the vehicle location data and the driver location data, generates vehicle driver data based on the correlated vehicle location data and driver location data, where the generated vehicle driver data includes a set of drivers associated with a vehicle, and identifies a driver of the vehicle at a particular time using the vehicle driver data and the timestamp.

Abstract: A route risk mitigation system and method using real-time information to improve the safety of vehicles operating in semi-autonomous or autonomous modes. The method mitigates the risks associated with driving by assigning real-time risk values to road segments and then using those real-time risk values to select less risky travel routes, including less risky travel routes for vehicles engaged in autonomous driving over the travel routes. The route risk mitigation system may receive location information, real-time operation information, (and/or other information) and provide updated associated risk values. In an embodiment, separate risk values may be determined for vehicles engaged in autonomous driving over the road segment and vehicles engaged in manual driving over the road segment.

Abstract: In some implementations, a mobile device can be configured to provide simplified audio navigation instructions. The simplified audio navigation instructions can provide a reduced set of audio navigation instructions so that the audio instructions are only presented to the user when the user wishes to or needs to hear the instructions. A user can enable the simplified audio navigation instructions. The simplified audio navigation instructions can be enabled automatically. The simplified audio navigation instructions can be configured with rules for when to present audio navigation instructions. For example, the rules can specify that audio navigation instructions are to be provided for complex road segments, a user defined portion of a route, or specified road types, among other criteria. The mobile device can be configured with exceptions to the rules such that audio navigation instructions can be presented when the user has, for example, deviated from a defined route.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, computerized apparatus and computer program product for efficient solution of nearest object problems. A set of objects having non-point shapes representable by one or more geometric elements are obtained. For each object in the set the one or more geometric elements are sampled to obtain a set of points representing the set of objects. A Voronoi diagram is constructed for the set of points, whereby a subdivision of a space accommodating the set of objects into a plurality of cells, each cell containing a single point of the set of points and defining a region of closest neighbors of the point, is obtained. Cells containing points representing the same object are aggregated into a unified cell defining an estimated region of closest neighbors of the object.
