Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a device for starting an electric drive motor via an actuating element which can be displaced in a handle counter to an actuating force and acts on a transmission element. The transmission element is shiftable from a rest position into an operating range, wherein the transmission element actuates a switching element and starts the motor. For shifting from the rest position into an end position, a shift force is applied. The shift force forms at least a portion of the actuating force. To keep the actuating force low after the motor is switched on, the displacement path of the transmission element is divided into a first segment and a second segment which includes the operating range. The shift force to be applied to the transmission element rises on the first segment of the path and, after a maximum, decreases on the second segment.

Abstract: A lighting fixture can be mounted to a structure near an obstacle that may constrain mounting options for the lighting fixture. An adjustable bracket can facilitate mounting the lighting fixture closer to the obstacle than would be workable without the adjustable bracket. A portion of the adjustable mounting bracket can translate rotationally and linearly. Using the translation capability, an installer can move the portion of the bracket away from the obstacle to provide room for attaching the fixture to the bracket. Once the fixture is attached, the installer can readjust the bracket to provide a long-term operating position, or the installer may leave the lighting fixture in a translated position relative to the bracket.

Abstract: Junction boxes for enclosing and making electrical connections to LED drivers are disclosed. The junction boxes include a bottom or base and a cover. Dividers arising from the base divide the junction box into high-voltage and low-voltage compartments. A cut-out open at the top of each divider allows a driver to be placed in a junction box without having to pull wires through holes or openings. Typically, the base is open along the top and along at least a portion of one sidewall, with the cover being L- or U-shaped to complete the enclosure. Various mounting mechanisms are disclosed for securing drivers within junction boxes. Embodiments that can house several drivers or components within one junction box are disclosed, as are weather- and water-resistant embodiments.

Abstract: A light socket configuration originally intended for light sources based on technologies other than light emitting diodes (LEDs) can be upgraded to accommodate an LED light source. The upgraded socket can be backward compatible with the non-LED light sources and thus may accommodate both LED- and non-LED-based light sources. The upgrade can comprise adding heat management technology to the light socket to address heat sensitivity of LED light sources. A structural portion of the socket can be formed from a material that has a relatively high thermal conductivity in order to conduct heat away from the LED light source. The socket may include heat dissipating fins. An associated heat spreader or heat sink can spread, sink, dissipate, or otherwise manage the heat conducted away from the LED light source.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a lamp capable of isolating heat source, which comprises a lamp head and a lamp body. The lamp head includes a driver. The lamp body includes a plurality of light-emitting members. The lamp head and the lamp body are spaced by a distance. The driver and the plurality of light-emitting members are connected electrically. A gap is located between the driver and the plurality of light-emitting members according to the present invention. By taking advantage of air being thermally insulating, the thermal conduction between the driver and the plurality of light-emitting members may be blocked. Then the driver will be free from the influence of the heat generated by the plurality of light-emitting members and its operating temperature may be kept normal. Thereby, the lifetime of the lamp may be extended.
