Abstract: In general, techniques are described that facilitate processing of color image data using both a mono image data and a color image data. A device comprising a monochrome camera, a color camera, and a processor may be configured to perform the techniques. The monochrome camera may capture monochrome image data of a scene. The color camera may capture color image data of the scene. A processor may determine a parallax value indicative of a level of parallax between the monochrome image data and the color image data and determine that the parallax is greater than the parallax threshold. The processor may further combine, in response to the determination that the parallax is greater than the parallax threshold, a luma component of the color image data with a luma component of the monochrome image data to generate a luma component of enhanced color image data.

Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed including a computing device configured to allow a user to view a multi-stream video from a selected angle/direction with respect to the contents of the multi-stream video, under the user's control. The multi-stream video is generated using multiple Image Acquisition Devices (IAD), such as cameras, simultaneously, consecutively, or independently filming a scene, each IAD having a different position with respect to each of the other IADs. Each image data stream obtained from each IAD may be uniquely identified to allow selective real-time playback of image data streams under user control. Each image data stream represents a corresponding viewing angle to the user. The user may dynamically change the selection of an image stream, and thus the viewing angle, while viewing a recorded scene. Multiple image streams of the same scene may be selected and viewed simultaneously to provide 3D or other visual effects.

Abstract: An exemplary virtual reality media provider system (“system”) includes a configuration of synchronous video and depth capture devices disposed at fixed positions at a real-world event. In real time, the video and depth capture devices capture two-dimensional video data and depth data for surfaces of objects at the real-world event. The system generates a real-time volumetric data stream representative of a dynamic volumetric model of the surfaces of the objects at the real-world event in real time based on the captured two-dimensional video data and captured depth data. The dynamic volumetric model of the surfaces of the objects at the real-world event is configured to be used to generate virtual reality media content representative of the real-world event as experienced from a dynamically selectable viewpoint corresponding to an arbitrary location at the real-world event and selected by a user experiencing the real-world event using a media player device.

Abstract: Techniques for depth map generation using cluster hierarchy and multiple multiresolution camera clusters are described. In one example embodiment, the method includes, capturing images using multiple multiresolution camera clusters. Multiple low-resolution depth maps are then generated by down scaling the captured high resolution image and mid-resolution images to lower resolution images. A low-resolution central camera depth map is generated using the refined multiple low-resolution depth maps. Captured lower resolution images are then up-scaled to mid-resolution images. A mid-resolution depth maps are then generated for each cluster using multiple view points and the up-scaled mid-resolution images. A high-resolution depth map is then generated using the refined initial mid-resolution depth map, the low-resolution central camera depth map, and the up-scaled central cluster images.
