An acoustic transducer 100 is formed of a film-shaped material having an expanding and contracting action and includes a cylindrical acoustic transducing element 101. The cylindrical acoustic transducing element 101 also functions as a sound guide tube. The acoustic transducing element 101 prevents re-reflection of the sound wave reflected by an eardrum when the sound wave has been generated and prevents localization phenomenon and a feeling of pressure in auditory sense.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2015Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: YUUJI YAMADA, KOYURU OKIMOTO, YOSHIO OHASHI, TOSHIYUKI NAKAGAWA

Publication number: 20170318375Abstract: One or more sensors are configured to contextualize a series of user generated movements to control one or more electronic devices. For example, a set of earphones comprises one or more sensors for sensing a location of the earphones. The one or more sensors enable earphones such as a pair of bluetooth or earphones wirelessly coupled to a bluetooth enabled electronic device, the capability to understand the configuration of use of the earphones. Based on a location and use or non-use of the earphones, one or more contextual responses is able to be applied for a given action.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventor: Rob Honeycutt

Publication number: 20170318376Abstract: One or more accelerometers embedded with an earbud and/or a set of earphones are able to sense a moving pace of a user. Based on a moving pace of the user, a signal is sent to a remotely connected electronic device. The electronic device is able to separately increase and decrease a beat or rhythm of the audio from the electronic device based on a pace of the user. In some embodiments, an audio alert is sent to the user to inform the user of pace and whether the user has increased or decreased their pace. Additionally, in some embodiments, a program stored on the electronic device is used to compare the user's current progress and/or speed based on past runs and workouts.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventor: Rob Honeycutt

Publication number: 20170318377Abstract: An intelligent headphone may be configured at least with a headphone having a shape, size, and material to engage an ear of a user. The headphone may have at least a controller, accelerometer, and audio processor. The headphone accelerometer can be positioned to allow speech of the user to be sensed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 10, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventor: Phillip Dale Lott

Publication number: 20170318378Abstract: Apparatus comprises adapter and speaker system. Adapter is configured to plug into port of personal digital audio player. Speaker system is in communication with adapter, and comprises multiple acoustic transducers, programmable processor circuit, and wireless communication circuit. In first operational mode, processor circuit receives, via adapter, and processes digital audio content from personal digital audio player into which adapter is plugged, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the received audio content from the personal digital audio player. In second operational mode, wireless communication circuit receives digital audio content from a remote digital audio source over a wireless network, processor circuit processes the digital audio content received from remote digital audio source, and the multiple acoustic transducers output the audio content received from the remote digital audio source.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Michael J. Publication number: 20170318379Abstract: The present disclosure describes a multi-mode headset incorporating both bone conduction and aural transducers. Bone conduction plates of the headset rest on a users' temples, just in front of each ear in one implementation, and create sound through vibrations in a first mode, allowing the user to listen to the headset while still leaving environmental or external sounds audible. In a second mode, the user detaches aural transducers or earbuds from an attachment point and inserts them into the user's ears, blocking external noise and providing passive and/or active noise isolation. In a third mode, both the bone conduction plates and aural transducers may be used simultaneously, providing additional amplitude and potentially wider frequency response. The headset may include a switch, such as a magnetic proximity sensor detecting the position of the aural transducers, to control a mixer or amplifier to re-route audio through the aural transducers.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 17, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Stefan Bisits Bullen, Nicolas Sabharwal, Sunil Sabharwal

Publication number: 20170318380Abstract: A method and system for sizing an earpiece include situating a calibration device proximate a user's ear. The user holds an image capture device so as to aim the image capture device at the user's ear. The user then touches and holds a random area of the touch screen display and releases the touch screen display to activate the image capture device and capture an image of the user's ear and the calibration device. The captured image is then analyzed and an earpiece size is determined based on the analysis of the image.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2017Publication date: November 2, 2017Inventors: Seth BURGETT, Richard J.
