Publication number: 20170325078Abstract: Methods and systems are described wherein an initiating device sends a communication requesting a voice call session with a recipient device. In response, the initiating device receives a communication indicating that the initiating device can provide a text message instead of establishing the voice call session. In some cases, the communication may refuse the request voice call session, while in other cases the communication may simply indicate that the recipient device supports text messaging as an alternative to voice mail. As a result of the received communication, the initiating device outputs a text input prompt. After receiving text input in response to the prompt, the initiating device sends a text message containing the received text input.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 30, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventor: Ross Gilson

Publication number: 20170325104Abstract: An algorithm for determining redundant radios in APs is disclosed. The algorithm first performs a coverage peak flattening algorithm to predict an impact to the total coverage area if a radio in a selected AP does not transmit signals in a frequency band. If the impact to the total coverage area is acceptable, the algorithm then performs a multi-point check algorithm to determine whether the radio in the selected AP is redundant in the frequency band. The base station allocates resources for the one or more UEs to use for sending a scheduling request based, at least in part, on the type of traffic associated with each of the one or more UEs. The base station signals an indication of the allocated resources to each of the one or more UEs.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Chong LI, Junyi LI

Publication number: 20170325119Abstract: A method and apparatus for configuring a proximity-based services (ProSe) scheduling request (SR) prohibit timer in a wireless communication system is provided. A user equipment (UE) receives an indication of the ProSe SR prohibit timer from a network, and configures the ProSe SR prohibit timer according to the indication. Upon configuring the ProSe SR prohibit timer, the UE may start or stop the configured ProSe SR prohibit timer for a triggered ProSe BSR which may only correspond to a Regular ProSe BSR. If the ProSe BSR has been triggered and the ProSe SR prohibit timer is not running, the UE may trigger a SR.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 2, 2015Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Youngdae LEE, Seungjune YI, Sunghoon JUNG, Sunyoung LEE

Publication number: 20170325120Abstract: A network node, such as a quality of experience QoE orchestrator, start monitors (400) data traffic related to a terminal device, in order to detect (402) a data flow related to an application session. The network node derives (403) resource requirement information defining a required QoE level to be provided to the terminal device regarding the application session. The network node performs (404) QoE measurements to obtain information on QoE experienced by the terminal device regarding the application session. Based on the QoE measurements, the network node executes one or more actions in order to enforce (405) the quality of experience QoE of the application session to meet the resource requirement.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2014Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Peter SZILAGYI, Csaba VULKAN

Publication number: 20170325121Abstract: Apparatus and method are provided to enhance buffer status report (BSR) to multiple schedulers with inter base station carrier aggregation. In one novel aspect, the UE calculates a buffer size value, detects a BSR trigger event, selects one or more base stations (BSs) to send the BSR reports and generates the BSR reports for the selected one or more BSs. In one embodiment, one BS is selected based on predefined criteria. In other embodiments, multiple base stations are selected. In one embodiment, the same contents for BSR are generated. In another embodiment, different BSR reports are generated for different base stations from which the UE receives UL grants. In one novel aspect, the UE calculates a buffer size value and determines if a budget BSR triggering criteria is satisfied. The UE triggers budget BSR procedure by sending a budget BSR report to a selected base station based on predefined thresholds.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 28, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Yuanyuan Zhang, Chia-Chun Hsu

Publication number: 20170325122Abstract: A method and apparatus may be used for network management via MAC measurements. The measurements may include WTRU uplink traffic loading measurement, and an AP service loading measurement. The measurements may be applicable to at least to layers 1 and 2 as applied to, for example, 802.11k in the context of OFDM and CDMA 2000 systems, but may be applicable to other scenarios as well. A method for determining and transmitting congestion information may be provided for a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) system. The method and apparatus may be used for managing congestion when congestion is detected. The method and apparatus may be used in wireless systems that use a Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) mechanism. The methods may be implemented in wireless transmit/receive units (WTRU)s and access points (AP)s of various forms.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Applicant: InterDigital Technology CorporationInventors: Joseph A. Publication number: 20170325123Abstract: In some embodiments, a wireless device such as a user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station using an advanced form of carrier aggregation. The UE may provide signaling to the network specifying a number P of downlink component carriers to be configured for use by the UE for downlink carrier aggregation and a number Q of uplink component carriers to be configured for use by the UE for uplink carrier aggregation. The UE can only utilize a lesser number M of downlink component carriers at any given time in downlink carrier aggregation and can only utilize a lesser number N of uplink component carriers at any given time in uplink carrier aggregation. Thus the UE may request the network to configure a greater number P and Q of downlink and uplink component carriers, respectively, than the UE can actually use at any instant of time.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2017Publication date: November 9, 2017Inventors: Tarik Tabet, Awais M.
