Publication number: 20170342567Abstract: Walls of through-holes and vias of substrates with dielectric material are electroless plated with copper using tin-free ionic silver catalysts. Conductive polymers are first formed on the substrates by treating the substrates with a permanganate solution containing complexing anions followed by applying monomers, oligomers or conductive polymers to the substrate to form a conductive polymer coating on the dielectric of the substrate as well as on the walls of through-holes and vias of the substrate. A tin-free ionic silver catalyst is then applied to the treated substrate. Optionally, the tin-free ionic silver catalyst can include a ligand agent to form a coordination entity with the silver ions of the tin-free catalyst. The silver ions of the tin-free catalyst are reduced by the conductive polymer and then an electroless metal copper bath is applied to the treated substrate to copper plate the dielectric and walls of the through-holes and vias of the substrate.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 26, 2016Publication date: November 30, 2017Inventor: Benjamin Naab

Publication number: 20170342574Abstract: Methods of selectively modifying lignin, polycarboxylated products thereof, and methods of deriving aromatic compounds therefrom. The methods comprise electrochemically oxidizing lignin using stable nitroxyl radicals to selectively oxidize primary hydroxyls on ?-O-4 phenylpropanoid units to corresponding carboxylic acids while leaving the secondary hydroxyls unchanged. The oxidation results in polycarboxylated lignin in the form of a polymeric ?-hydroxy acid. The polymeric ?-hydroxy acid has a high loading of carboxylic acid and can be isolated in acid form, deprotonated, and/or converted to a salt. The ?-hydroxy acid, anion, or salt can also be subjected to acidolysis to generate various aromatic monomers or oligomers. The initial oxidation of lignin to the polycarboxylated form renders the lignin more susceptible to acidolysis and thereby enhances the yield of aromatic monomers and oligomers obtained through acidolysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2016Publication date: November 30, 2017Inventors: Shannon S. Publication number: 20170342607Abstract: A woven fabric includes a first constituent yarn having an optical fiber yarn and a non-light guiding yarn and a second constituent yarn having a non-light guiding yarn. The woven fabric has a first region in which the first and second constituent yarns are woven in one layer and a second region which is positioned adjacent to the first region and in which the first and second constituent yarns and are woven in two or more separable layers. The woven fabric has an optical fiber layer and a back protecting layer as the separable layers. The optical fiber layer is a layer formed of the optical fiber yarns. The back protecting layer is a layer in which the non-light guiding yarn of the first constituent yarn and the non-light guiding yarn of the second constituent yarn are woven. Further, the woven fabric can further comprise a front protecting layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2017Publication date: November 30, 2017Applicants: TOYOTA BOSHOKU KABUSHIKI KAISHA, DAIKI CO., LTD.Inventors: Takamasa YAMADA, Shingo OKAHARA, Mitsutaka SAKOH, Hideo KANAMORI, Atsuhiko ITO, Takayoshi YAMAMOTO

Publication number: 20170342609Abstract: A process is described wherein pile yarn is woven with cotton weft and warp yarns to produce terry fabrics, such as towels. The fabric is then washed in warm water to dissolve the PVA fibers. The amount of fibers dissolved, depends upon the count of the yarn or yarns used. By dissolving the PVA fibers, a hollow air space is produced throughout the pile yarn, corresponding to an increase in the air space in the pile yarn. By increasing the air space in the pile yarn, the resulting towels are softer and bulkier than standard cotton towels. The present invention further relates to pile yarn in terry woven fabric (warp yarn), or weft yarn, in the case of flat fabrics.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2017Publication date: November 30, 2017Inventor: Rajesh R.
