Abstract: A multilayer artificial honeycomb is provided, the honeycomb comprises a plurality of combs; wherein each of the combs includes a plurality of working units working independently from each other; each of the working units includes an artificial frame and three layers of honey-storing rooms movably arranged in the artificial frame. The present application is flexible based on the combs construction property of different kinds of bees, suitable to the bees which store honey and breed in the same comb, such as Chinese honeybee, scoliid, bumblebee and the like. Therefore, the honeycomb produces honey all the year round, and is suitable for the regions in high altitudes, cold and having few nectar sources, and also suitable for mountainous areas and fields. The present application facilitates the popularization of breeding and application of Asian bees.

Abstract: An inner cover for a beehive and methods of making the inner cover in accordance with the present disclosure are primarily characterized by a substantially rigid base and a substantially rigid banding defining a volume within the inner cover. The base includes one or more ventilation openings which may optionally be covered by a screening material. The screening material, or the ventilation openings themselves, may be selectively blockable and unblockable by bees through the use of available materials such as propolis or beeswax. Self-variation by the bees of ventilation within the inner cover controls air circulation and temperature regulation, improving the survivability of the bees within a beehive as outside temperatures vary and allowing for year-round use. Food may be placed upon the ventilation openings, screening material, or surrounding structure, allowing bees to feed and regulate their environment without the risks of breaking cluster.

The bacon analogue may have a ratio of first to second components of between about 35:65 to about 65:35 and a total fat percentage of about 28% to about 48%. In another configuration, the ratio of first to second components is about 25:75 to about 75:25. In one approach, the bacon analogue is free from alginate binders and free of emulsified meat. In one configuration, the first and the second components are ground to a size of about 0.125-inch to 0.5-inch. After the first and second components are separately mixed and cured, the components are pumped together into a marbled slab having an appearance similar to a pork-belly, which may then be sliced.

Abstract: Methods of preventing or decreasing PEDv and/or Salmonella bacteria in animal feed, feed ingredients, and pet food are provided. The methods utilize generally safe chemical mitigants, such as medium chain fatty acids, essential oils, and sodium bisulfate. The chemical mitigants are introduced to the feed or feed ingredients at inclusion rates selected so as to prevent or decrease PEDv and/or Salmonella bacteria in the animal feed, feed ingredients, or pet food. The methods are particularly suitable for use in post-processing treatment of animal feed, feed ingredients, or pet food that will be transported and stored for multiple days or weeks.

Abstract: The invention relates to a disposable cartridge filled with a single serve portion of a liquid ingredient to be combined with a base liquid for the preparation of a liquid product, e.g. a beverage concentrate to be combined with water, e.g. carbonated water, for the preparation of a beverage suitable for human consumption. The cartridge comprises a vertically extending channel that extends to a dispensing aperture in the bottom of the cartridge and one or more dispensing passages extending between a reservoir and the outside of the cartridge. The dispensing passages are provided with outlet openings located adjacent the aperture such that the base liquid and the liquid ingredient are dispensed in parallel flows, the liquid ingredient subsequently coating the exterior of the stream of base liquid, such that actual mixing of the liquid ingredient and base liquid only takes place after both have been dispensed.

Abstract: A process for preparing a ready-to-eat mature coconut in which coconuts are selected based on its flotation characteristics, higher floaters being more mature. An oval or circular groove is carved partially into the bottom of the coconut shell. The coconut is then sealed into a heat tolerant plastic bag in which it is cooked, then frozen. Pieces of coconut husk are roasted until they turn black, then boiled in water to obtain a vapor that condenses to a liquid extraction, which is added to the bag before sealing it. The sealed bag is then heated to obtain sweet coconut water, some separation of coconut meat from the coconut shell, and the expansion of the coconut water during the spraying of steam to slightly split the coconut shell along the carved groove whereby the tip of a spoon can be used to pry off the coconut shell.
