Abstract: Club cards and tickets can be eliminated by providing an application that allows a player's mobile phone to process an image of an optical machine-readable representation of data. At the end of a wagering session on a WGM, the WGM can display a barcode representing a player's winnings, an achievement, game status, etc. The player takes a picture of the barcode with his or her mobile phone. The application on the phone processes the barcode image and automatically updates an account of the player in accordance with the data represented or carried by the barcode. For instance, the mobile phone sends a request to a wagering account server to electronically deposit the winnings, as represented by the barcode, in a wagering account associated with the player's club profile.

Abstract: Preprinted game tickets, such as pull tab tickets or instant game lottery tickets, are dispensed from a vending machine. A selection option on the vending machine allows the patrons to select either redemption of the value of the winning ticket at the vending machine immediately after purchasing the ticket if the ticket is a winning ticket, or deferral of redemption of the value of the winning ticket immediately after purchasing the ticket if the ticket is a winning ticket. A ticket dispenser dispenses the purchased winning ticket after a selection option is made. A ticket marker in the vending machine visually defaces winning tickets as they are dispensed only if a patron selects the option to redeem the value of the winning ticket at the vending machine immediately after purchasing the ticket. The visual defacing of the winning tickets inhibits attempts to perform deferred redemption of the winning tickets.

The mobile device is used to initially commission sensors by collecting data from the field, such as sensor identity, asset identity and measurement points, and uploading the collected data to the electronics. The mobile device may also be used to select programming in the control electronics for analyzing sensor signals from a particular sensor. The mobile device is also used to collect data from the field for use in linearizing sensor signals when they are received by the control electronics and to transmit maintenance commands to the control electronics thereby causing a programming change in the control electronics to prevent the transmission of a type of command or a type of information, such as a shutdown command or an alarm or alert.

Abstract: An auxiliary device that remotely controls a mobile computing device is described herein. The auxiliary device can be wirelessly coupled with the mobile computing device. The auxiliary device can detect a user input at the auxiliary device. An operation executed by the mobile computing device can be performed responsive to the user input. Further, an identity of the operation can be a function of a context of the mobile computing device and the user input. Responsive to detection of the user input, the auxiliary device can transmit data indicative of the user input from the auxiliary device to the mobile computing device.

Abstract: Vehicle-to-pedestrian information systems that use directional sound transmission on autonomous vehicles are disclosed. A cloud computing system manages messages for transmission to pedestrians via autonomous vehicles having directional speakers. The cloud computing system identifies pedestrians and identifies messages for the pedestrians. Pedestrians may be known and authenticated to the cloud computing system or may be unknown. The cloud computing system maintains profiles for known pedestrians and transmits messages to vehicles based on the profiles. The cloud computing system keeps track of the location of vehicles and causes the vehicles to use directional speakers to transmit messages to the pedestrians based on the relative positions of the vehicles and the pedestrians.

Abstract: A detection and response device for a surveillance system detects events, responds to events, or both. The detection and response device may be used with or provided by a variety of surveillance systems, including peer to peer surveillance architectures. The device may utilize one or more defined geospaces. If an event occurs in a geospace a predefined response may then be provided. The predefined response may include automatically targeting one or more cameras to areas relevant to the event and presenting one or more predefined views optimized for viewing the event. If an event does not occur within a geospace, the detection and response device may provide one or more default responses.
