Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for maximizing the propensity of content consumption according to content complexity and content consumption time. During operation, the system receives a request from a user to access a content feed. Based on a time of receipt, the system identifies a current seasonality that corresponds to reading habits of the user during a time period encompassing the time of receipt. The system then accesses a profile for the user to obtain a reading speed of the user and the reading habits of the user for the current seasonality. Next, the system: identifies a subset of content items; estimates a reading session length; and determines a complexity, with regard to the user, for each content item. The system then creates the content feed by ordering the subset of content items according to the reading session length and the complexity of each content item.

Abstract: An admissions funnel process software application recommends a candidate to a school based on the admission cycle timeline of the school. The admission closing tool receives an admission schedule for a school that includes a set of admission goals for the school such as a desired number of students at each stage of an admission cycle. A candidate profile is compiled for each of a plurality of candidates. For each candidate, the admissions funnel process software application predicts a stage in the admission cycle that the candidate will be, at a future time. For each stage of an admission cycle, the candidates are aggregated by their predicted stages to obtain a predicted admissions cycle for the school. The aggregated number of candidates is compared to the desired number of candidates for that stage. Responsive to the comparing, one or more candidates are selected as leads, recommended and sent to the school.

Abstract: A computerized billing code generator reviews billing source data containing both admissible data (such as physician's notes) and inadmissible data (such as nurse's notes). The billing code generator determines whether to generate a request to review the first data based on both the first data and the second data. For example, the billing code generator may generate the request in response to determining that the second data contains information that is inconsistent with information contained in the first data. As another example, the billing code generator may generate the request in response to determining that the second data contains information that is not contained within the first data.

Abstract: An acquisition unit 47 acquires comparative cases, which are medical examination data having the same clinical path as a medical examination target patient, from an electronic medical record DB 14. A display form determination unit 48 compares the treatment periods and the conditions of respective comparative cases, and assigns each comparative case to each group. A display color is set in advance for each group. A screen display control unit 49 generates a graph comparison display screen 21 on which a line graph 70 showing a time-series change in the examination value of the medical examination target patient and a plurality of line graphs 71 showing time-series changes in the examination values of respective comparative cases are displayed so as to overlap each other. The line graph 71 is color-coded with display colors determined by the display form determination unit 48.

Abstract: A cooperative environmental and life benefit exchange system is presented. The system includes a grid for transmitting available electrical energy, a plurality of rate payers using energy generated from renewable energy sources, a plurality of utility companies providing the grid, a plurality of credits redeemable for acquiring one or more of a plurality of life benefits, and an administrator overseeing a redemption process. In one embodiment, credits are accumulated by the rate payers based on either a predetermined amount of electrical energy purchased from or sold back to the grid. In the redemption process the credits accumulated by the rate payers are redeemed at a redemption rate to provide a redemption value. The redemption value is remitted by the rate payers to satisfy benefit cost for acquiring the life benefits, or portions thereof.

Abstract: A motor vehicle includes a road condition sensor detecting a hazardous condition of a road on which the motor vehicle is traveling. A global positioning system detects a global position of the motor vehicle. An electronic processor receives a road condition signal from the road condition sensor. The road condition signal is indicative of the hazardous condition of the road on which the motor vehicle is traveling. The electronic processor receives a global position signal from the global positioning sensor. The global position signal is indicative of the global position of the motor vehicle. The electronic processor causes a road hazard signal to be wirelessly transmitted to an entity disposed remote from the motor vehicle. The road hazard signal is indicative of the hazardous condition of the road on which the motor vehicle is traveling and of a global position at which the hazardous condition of the road exists.

Abstract: A system and method for verifying the identity of a first individual by a second individual who is preferably within range, such as, but not limited to, viewing range of the first individual. The first individual receives an Identification Token on his or her electronic device from an Electronic Identification Verification System. When the first individual is within the vicinity of the second individual the Identification Token or a signal representative of the Identification Token is sent from the first individual's electronic device to the electronic device of the second individual. The second individual's electronic device sends the Identification Token to the Electronic Identification Verification System who obtains the verification information associated with the specific Identification Token from an Electronic Identification Verification Database.

Abstract: A logistics system for managing objects in a space includes at least one boundary area between the space and external surroundings, and transfer devices for handling the objects. The transfer device and/or an object handled thereby has been identified. The system also includes a management unit to identify a mutual order for the objects at a first time instant on the basis of identification and location data regarding the transfer devices and/or the objects, and to determine a desired mutual order for the objects at a second time instant subsequent to the first time instant. In addition, the management unit can commence the actuation of the transfer devices relative to each other prior to the second time instant in such a way that the desired mutual order for the objects will have been achieved at the second time instant.
