Abstract: A process of preparing an adhesive haemostatic product is provided. The process comprises: (a) coating a porous solid substrate with a coating liquid that comprises an electrophilically activated polyoxazoline (EL-POX) and a solvent to produce a coated substrate; and (b) removing the solvent from the coated substrate. The EL-POX comprises at least 2 reactive electrophilic groups. The process enables the application of an EL-POX coating that leaves the pore structure of the substrate largely intact so that the ability of the porous substrate to absorb body fluids, such as blood, remains essentially unaffected. The EL-POX coated haemostatic product obtained by the present process has excellent adhesive properties due to the presence of electrophilic reactive groups that are capable of reacting with e.g. amine groups that are naturally present in tissue, under the formation of covalent bonds.

Abstract: The invention relates to a torsion spring driven injection device for apportioning individually set doses of a liquid drug. The injection device has a needle cannula (35) for multiple uses and a cleaning chamber (56) for cleaning the tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections. The cleaning chamber is filled with preservative containing liquid drug directly from the cartridge (30) in a filling sequence which is executed when the user initiates first use of the injection device. The sequence comprises the step of securing the piston rod guide in an inrotatable position and thereafter moving the cartridge in a proximal direction. Such axial movement of the cartridge without a similar movement of the plunger automatically pumps liquid drug from the cartridge and into the cleaning chamber via the lumen of the needle cannula.

Abstract: A marking assembly includes a hollow cannula having a wall extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The wall defines a lumen of the cannula. The wall includes at least one opening at a distal portion of the cannula. A stylet is configured to be received in the lumen of the cannula. The stylet has a wall extending from a proximal end to a distal end. When the stylet is received in the lumen of the cannula, a circumferential space is defined between the wall of the stylet and the wall of the cannula such that fluid entering the circumferential space will exit the cannula through the at least one opening of the cannula.

Abstract: Some embodiments an infusion pump system can be used to determine a user's total insulin load (TIL) that provides an accurate indication of the insulin previously delivered to the user's body which has not yet acted. In particular embodiments, the TIL can account for both the bolus deliveries and the basal deliveries that have occurred over a period of time. Such information may be useful, for example, when the infusion pump is operated in conjunction with a continuous glucose monitoring device.

Abstract: A fluid delivery device comprises a housing having a fluid reservoir. A needle is in fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in an engaged position and out of fluid communication with the fluid reservoir in armed and storage positions. A proximal end of a biasing member is coupled to the housing and a distal end of the biasing member is configured to deliver a force to the fluid reservoir. A piston member extends through the biasing member and is coupled to the distal end of the biasing member. The piston member is fixed with respect to the housing in a locked position such that the biasing member does not deliver the force to the fluid reservoir and moveable with respect to the housing in a released position such that the biasing member delivers the force to the fluid reservoir. Transitioning the needle from the storage position to the armed position transitions the piston from the locked position to the released position.
