Abstract: Enhanced techniques for data retrieval in a distributed computing environment are described. A computing node of a distributed computing environment may receive a data request. The computing node may include one or more subsets of data. The computing node may be configured to search among the one or more subset of data for a beginning of a data range that is responsive to the data request. The computing node may be further configured to forward a data range responsive to the search to another computing node of the distributed computing system to be merged with one or more additional data ranges. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A search request received at a computer of a search support system is processed by analyzing the received search request to identify request parameters and connecting to a system index of the search support system that is referenced in the request parameters. An external result provider (ERP) process is initiated that establishes communication between the search support system and a data source external to the search support system, for a virtual index referenced in the request parameters. Thus, the ERP process provides an interface between the search support system and external data sources, such as by third parties. The ERP process can operate in a streaming mode (providing real-time search results with minimal processing) and/or a reporting mode (providing results with a greater delay and processing extent) and can switch between modes. The search request results are received from the connected system indexes and the referenced virtual indexes.

Associations of natural language artifacts may be learned from natural language artifacts in unstructured data sources, and semantic and syntactic relationships may be learned in structured data sources, using grouping based on a criteria of shared features that are dynamically determined without the use of a priori classifications, by employing conditional probability constraints.

Abstract: Aspects of connected phrase search queries and titles are described. In one embodiment, a phrase in a search string may be identified with reference to a compilation data store. The compilation data store may include various collaborative, taxonomy, and brand name data, for example. After a phrase is identified in the search string, a search query may be generated based on the phrase. For example, a catalog of items may be queried to generate a query result, and the query result may be parsed for display to a user. In various embodiments, a plurality of phrases may be identified in a search string, and a plurality of search queries may be generated based on combinations of the phrases. In this manner, more search results may be obtained, especially for constrained search strings. The identification of phrases may also be applied to generate variations on titles, in certain embodiments.

A geographical area of interest and potential correction(s) may be identified. Geo-specific suggestions may be determined based on the search query and/or a selected correction. The geo-specific suggestions may correspond to one or more identified businesses located in the geographical area of interest. The determining the geo-specific suggestions may include identifying business listing information corresponding to the geographical area of interest and the search query and/or a selected correction. The geo-specific suggestions may be indicated as a user-selectable option to complete the search query in a search query field for a search engine and/or to submit to the search engine as a selected search query.

Abstract: A computer system includes a master controller that receives an HTTP request for a first URL. The URL indicates a first state of a first mobile application. A navigation controller navigates to the first state of the first mobile application within a device. A content scraper extracts content from the first state and identifies forward links to corresponding additional states of the first mobile application. The computer system includes an output formatter configured to package the content and the forward links into an HTTP response and transmit the HTTP response to a source of the first HTTP request. The HTTP response includes a forward URL for each additional state of the first mobile application reachable from the first state. For each additional state, the forward URL includes an indicator of the first mobile application and a path to reach the additional state within the first mobile application.

Abstract: Methods, systems, devices and computer program products for modifying and processing host webpage data are described. The host webpage data intended for receipt by a browser which will interpret the host webpage data and generate a host webpage document therefrom. The host webpage data is modified using second and third webpage data before being sent to the browser. The second webpage data is arranged to cause a frame to be generated within the host webpage document, the generated frame comprising a second webpage document which is associated with a different domain to the host webpage document. Furthermore, the third webpage data is arranged to cause the browser to allow access to functionality of the host webpage document by the second webpage document which would otherwise be blocked.

The current-visitor context includes one or more data associated with or concerning the current visitor. The method includes selecting based on the current-visitor context a particular one of multiple possible instances of the web page for presentation to the current visitor. The particular one of the multiple possible instances of the web page is substantially most likely to generate a highest expected outcome from interaction with the web page by the current visitor as indicated by the current-visitor context.

Abstract: Systems and methods of selectively preventing content slots from displaying content items on an information resource are described. Processors receive a request to provide, to a computing device, an electronic document corresponding to an information resource having content slots in which content items are displayed. The processors determine, in response to the request, to provide a modified version of the electronic document including actionable language that prevents at least one of the content slots from displaying content items. The processors identify in the electronic document, the at least one content slot to prevent from displaying content items. The processors modify the electronic document to include a snippet of actionable language in a portion of the electronic document that is executed by the computing device prior to executing actionable language corresponding to the identified at least one content slot. The processors transmit the modified electronic document to the computing device.

Abstract: A method by a computer includes, for each of a plurality of log records received as part of a log stream from a host machine node, identifying a template identifier within a template repository for a template string matching an invariant string of the log record, and identifying an attribute identifier in an attribute repository for an attribute string matching a variant string of the log record. The log records are partitioned into batches. Each of the batches are defined by a data structure that includes the template identifier and the attribute identifier for each of the log records within the batch. The data structures for each of the batches are stored into a log repository.

Abstract: Changes in capillary pressure and relative permeabilities in reactive transport codes or reservoir simulators are formed by computer modeling. Based on continuum-scale hydraulic properties, the pore size distribution (PSD) is determined from a capillary pressure curve using the capillary tube concept. Changes in mineral volume through equilibrium or kinetic mineral reactions are then translated to changes in pore radii of the pore size distribution by selectively changing the radii of water occupied pores. The resulting new pore size distribution is converted back to an updated capillary pressure curve, which is then used for determining and forming models of total permeability and relative permeabilities at the continuum scale.

A logic-function identifier can be determined based on a fan-in combinational-logic-cone, wherein the logic-function identifier corresponds to a logic function that is implemented by the fan-in combinational-logic-cone. An arrival-time-pattern identifier can be determined based on a set of arrival times at inputs of the fan-in combinational-logic-cone. A database lookup can be performed based on the logic-function identifier and the arrival-time-pattern identifier to obtain an optimized combinational-logic-cone. Next, the fan-in combinational-logic-cone can be replaced with the optimized combinational-logic-cone in the IC design.

Another aspect interactively represents various results on a display apparatus using one or more distinguishing representation schemes. Another aspect is directed at interactive editing a component of an electronic design having track patterns by iteratively modifying a set of track patterns to reach a reduced set of track patterns and by automatically snapping the component to active track(s) in the reduced set for the physical implementation.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of determining characteristics of orifices (O1, . . . , O9) to be made through a plate (2) positioned in a circuit (10) across the fluid passage. Said method comprises defining fluid data, the number of orifices, and for each orifice a control segment or area. The fluid flow rate through each orifice of the perforated plate is calculated, and for each orifice, the flow rate density is calculated by dividing said fluid flow rate by the associated control segment length or control area. The optimized or non-optimized nature of the orifice characteristic is determined by comparing said flow rate density with the mean flow rate density. If the difference in absolute value lies within a predetermined range of values, then the orifice characteristics are considered as being optimized. Otherwise at least one characteristic of at least some of the orifices is modified.

Abstract: A circuit for reducing power consumed by routing clock signals in an integrated circuit is described. The circuit comprises a clock routing network comprising a clock row coupled to receive an input clock signal having a first clock frequency and a plurality of clock branches coupled to the clock row; and a plurality of circuit blocks coupled to the plurality of clock branches, each circuit block having a clock conversion circuit and a register; wherein the clock conversion circuit is programmable to generate clock pulses of an internal clock signal, coupled to the register, having a second frequency that is greater than the first frequency. A method of reducing power consumed by routing clock signals in an integrated circuit is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of improving pattern density with a low OPC (optical proximity correction) cycle time, and an associated apparatus. In some embodiments, the method is performed by performing an initial data preparation process on an IC design including a graphical representation of a layout used to fabricate an integrated chip. The initial data preparation process is performed by using a data preparation element to generate a modified IC design having modified shapes that are modified forms of shapes within the IC design. One or more low-pattern-density areas of the modified IC design are identified using a local density checking element. One or more dummy shapes are added within the one or more low-pattern-density areas using a dummy shape insertion element. The one or more dummy shapes are separated from the modified shapes by a non-zero space.

Wireless devices can enable a subject's cardiac and/or respiratory functions to be monitored remotely, e.g. without the subject being attached to bedside equipment. A cardiac monitoring device may include a substrate, electrodes for measuring ECG signals, and an electronics module including a data processor and a wireless transmitter. The electronics module is sealed within the substrate and arranged to receive the measured ECG signals. Each ECG signal associated with a heartbeat is processed in the data processor to provide key data relating to that heartbeat. The key data may include the temporal position of a characteristic feature in the ECG signal. The key data is provided to the wireless transmitter for transmission.

The protected health information is isolated from the user interface to restrict access to the protected health information. Abstract: The present invention is generally directed to methods and devices for determining dosing for a medical agent. In some embodiments, a mathematical algorithm is employed for computing erythropoiesis-stimulating agents dosing for treating anemia in a subject, e.g., a human subject. Any suitable dosing may be used, e.g., intravenous, subcutaneous, or oral dosing. In some cases, dosing for a wide range of subject types and health conditions can be achieved using the devices and methods disclosed herein.

In an embodiment, an identification of medication and patient information for an electronic prescription is received. For example, the tasks may correspond to accessing a database for querying data representing access rights to a resource.

Abstract: Systems and methods to authenticate and verify user access replace the digits of a personal identification number (PIN) of a particular user with prompted randomized words that are to be uttered by an unidentified user. By virtue of this replacement, the PIN remains secret. A known speaker provides voice samples to the system in advance. The words uttered by the unidentified user (in response to the prompted words being displayed) correspond to digits. The identifier is used by the security computing device to obtain electronic pass information (such as an electronic boarding pass or a security screening status indicator) from a third party computing system (such as an airline computing system or a clearinghouse), which may be used to clear the person and/or otherwise facilitate the security screening. In some implementations, these techniques may also be used for physical token-less pass processing (such as boarding pass-less airline processing, confirmation of assigned traveling credentials, or determination of security protocols).

Abstract: Techniques are provided for integrating application-level user security context with a database. A session manager, in a middle tier that includes an application, obtains the security context of a user and establishes, in the database, a light-weight session (LWS) that reflects the security context. The security context is synchronized between the middle tier and database before application code execution. The database maintains an isolated copy of the LWS for the unit of application code executed as the security context. The database sends to the session manager the identifier of the copy of LWS. Before allowing a request from an application to be sent to the database, the session manager, transparent to the application, inserts an identifier that identifies the LWS. In this way, the database processes an application request in the context of the corresponding user's security context that is the same as the security context in the middle tier.

Abstract: Improved techniques to control utilization of accessory devices with electronic devices are disclosed. The improved techniques can use cryptographic approaches to authenticate electronic devices, namely, electronic devices that interconnect and communicate with one another. One aspect pertains to techniques for authenticating an electronic device, such as an accessory device. Another aspect pertains to provisioning software features (e.g., functions) by or for an electronic device (e.g., a host device). Different electronic devices can, for example, be provisioned differently depending on different degrees or levels of authentication, or depending on manufacturer or product basis. Still another aspect pertains to using an accessory (or adapter) to convert a peripheral device (e.g., USB device) into a host device (e.g., USB host). The improved techniques are particularly well suited for electronic devices, such as media devices, that can receive accessory devices.

The processor also determines a per-record average number of occurrences of the keywords in a plurality of records assigned to the first cluster and in a plurality of records assigned to the second cluster and receives a search request indicating the keywords and an emphasis value for each keyword. The processor also determines that the first cluster should be returned in response to the request and transmits, based on that determination, the first record.
