Abstract: The detection chip according to the present invention has an accommodating part, a metal film, a first reaction field, and a second reaction field. The accommodating part accommodates a liquid. The metal film is arranged in a bottom part of the accommodating part so that one face thereof faces into the accommodating part. The first reaction field and the second reaction field are arranged in mutually different regions on one face of the metal film. A capture body is immobilized in the first reaction field and the second reaction field. When the liquid is accommodated in the accommodating part, the depth of the liquid on the first reaction field differs from the depth of the liquid on the second reaction field.

Abstract: There is provided a method for correcting “pixel bleeding” caused by slow luminescence centers in laser scanning imaging (e.g., X-ray imaging using photostimulable phosphors and 2D dosimetry using optically stimulated luminescence). An embodiment uses a deconvolution procedure that takes into account the lifetime of the slow luminescence center and can be further constrained by the detection of fast and slow luminescence centers and combining line scans in opposite directions. An approach has been tested using simulated data and demonstrated experimentally by applying it to image reconstruction of two types of Al2O3 X-ray detector films (Al2O3:C and Al2O3:C,Mg), whose use in 2D dosimetry in conjunction with laser-scanning readout has so far been prevented by slow luminescence centers (35 ms lifetime from F-centers). We show that the algorithm allows the imaging using Al2O3 detectors 300 times faster than generally allowed considering the lifetime of the main luminescence centers.

Abstract: A system includes a build-up cavity to locally increase the power of light beams within the build-up cavity, where the light beams interact with samples to sense a substance of interest. The build-up cavity is disposed within a main cavity that includes a gain material to amplify the light beams. A portion of the light beams oscillating in the build-up cavity propagators through the build-up cavity and functions as a feedback to control the linewidth of the light beams. The two cavities can function as two separate “filters” and light beams at wavelengths that propagate through both of these “filters” can be preferentially amplified. The combination of the build-up cavity and the main cavity can achieve high power and narrow linewidth for the light beams without complex electronics, thereby decreasing the size, weight, and power (SWaP) of the system.

Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a method and apparatus for measuring a sensor (10) comprising multiple optical resonators (11,12) optically connected to a single optical output interface (16). The optical resonators (11,12) are interrogated with a light input signal (Si). A light output signal (So) is measured from the optic al output interface (16) to determine a combined spectral response (Sa) covering a wavelength range (W) including a plurality of resonance peaks (?1,i, ?2,j) for each of the optical resonators (11,12). A Fourier transform spectrum (FT) of the combined spectral response (Sa) is calculated and a harmonic series of periodic peaks (n·f1) is identified in the Fourier transform spectrum (FT). The harmonic series of periodic peaks is filtered to obtain a filtered Fourier transform spectrum (FT1) and a sensor signal is calculated (X1) based on the filtered Fourier transform spectrum (FT1).
